PLZ HELP! With Kx or Creative drivers my Audigy2 freezes on driver install at 95%

HELP!! Audigy2 freezes on 95% driver installation, Kx drivers also freeze on install!
Has anyone experineced this ? I'm using an old Asus K7M motherboard with a slot A thunderbird at 1Ghz. Could it be the VIA southbridge ? I have the via driver installed (actually all drivers are installed correctly to my knowledge).
Also tried to change to other PCI slots, no luck.

One thing I noticed is that IRQ 9 is used by 3 devices!! These are Via US host controler, the old TNT2 AGP gfx card, and the IEEE 1394 (firewire) controler (on the Audigy2 I presume, there's no other installed). But device manager shows no hardware conflicts. Maybe the drivers allow IRQ sharing.

Anyone had same experience ? Please help.
