??? X-fi Drivers on Soundblaster Live! 5.1

I have a question, is it possible to install the SoundBlaster x-fi 2.07.003 drivers on a soundblaster live! 5.1? I´ve read somewhere that this can be done, but I don´t know how to do it. Anyone tried to install this drivers? I´ll apreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks!

You have to manualy install them thru device mngr. Yes it does work. I tried it on my kids comp. I decided not use them because I hav a plat 5.1 and I lost the ability to change the inputs on the live drive thru the mixer software.

Hello all. New guy here. I am fascinated by tihs concept of installing X-Fi drivers for my SB Live 5.1 and was hoping someone could sort of walk me through the process. I tried to install them through the device manager with no luck. I also tried to extract the files from the .exe but the Install Shield always starts up and gives me an error saying that no compatable hardware was found. I'm disappointed in Creative for not updating the Live 5.1 drivers since 2002, especially since I bought the card new in 2005. I am hoping that the X-Fi drivers will give my sound card DX9c support, because as an avid gamer that is the biggest reason for me wanting them. Or I am open to suggestions if there is a better solution for my soundcard. Big THANX in advance for any help rendered. Running XP Pro SP2. Hope everyone had a great 4th of July !

this driver works with most of the Live!, Audigy, 2, 4, X-Fi cards.
On Live! cards not all applications work correctly and Creative claims to have OpenAL 1.1 support but apparently complete 1.1 implementation is only on Audigy cards, on Live! you will get only 1.0 support(maybe only a mistake in OpenAL driver).

http://rapidshare.de/files/24926878...hacked.rar.html
http://rapidshare.de/files/19392619/OpenALwEAX.exe.html

Install both for full OpenAL support in newest games.

I wonder how's that possible if X-Fi has diffrent DSP architecture than 10kx cards.

All you know how both Forceware and Catalyst drivers from our beloved videocard makers use unified driver architecture. New driver always support all older products but you are not able to use any features from the new products on the old ones. Same thing happens when you forcefully install X-FI drivers on older cards. Drivers work with them but only to some extent. Creative doen't not officially support this way of updating your drivers on older hardware probbaly because the drivers don't fully support older devices. Like in the case of people here, he was unable to switch outputs with the newer driver.

Creative's driver packs are somewhat unified, but they don't support pre-Audigy cards officially with them. We can't really tell if the driver's code for a Live! is actually new or not. It's probably not considering nobody sells EMU10K1 Live! anymore. There's no business reason to support the card anymore.

Im using these drivers with the OpenAL install and Quake4 indicates that my card is not OpenAL capable. Also, the prey demo wont allow me to select OpenAL...

I thought with these drivers , OpenAL would work fine on my SBLive 5.1 DE?
