Unless I can see a list of changes in that version no way I'll download it.

Taken from the reply in the Front Page news regarding these drivers.... but considering these are betas,These seem to have a time out within.I'm not going to install these either.

I installed the linked driver and it warned me that the driver will TIMEOUT on may 17th.... ive never heard of a driver timeing out so ither creative is wanting to make sure that people update every so often, or, this is a beta driver or something like that....

Untill someone else can comment on this, please wait to install the driver. Im off to work or id look more into this. Cyas

The file I downloaded comes directly from Creative though.

http://files.creative.com/Drivers/AV..._2_09_0000.exe

No problems with these drivers since I installed them. Like Creative's previous beta drivers over the last year or so, very stable and seems to work quite well. I'm to the point where I really don't worry about their beta releases so long as their "official" betas.

Extract the driver package into your HD and install by running the ctzapxx.exe (found from %extraction_path%\Drivers\support\i386 (or amd64) -folder).

This is a bit... um... weird?

What will happen then, they will auto-erase and I will have to install my original drivers from X-Fi CD or what? Or maybe it's because CL plans releasing another beta, or maybe stable version until "dead time"

Anyway, it's -

There should be an official release prior to the 17 May expiration date. If not, you'll get a message on that date that you need to uninstall these drivers and revert back to the previous version. You don't need your driver CDs any more. If you've already downloaded the current 2.07.004 driver package, you can just do a clean install with that.

Unless of course you want the fancy graphical GUI or other extraneous stuff that comes with the CD.

Ok I did it, and...

First:

- Why the hell I've got RC swapped with RL? (6.1 system). I've gone mad after that but hey, it's not a big problem (swapping two wires on sub)

Second:

- I can't see a list of changes, and maybe it's a placebo effect (wow, new drivers - they must sound awesome) but I think that CMSS-Headphone improved. Now I can hear helicopter voice comming more from front instead of above.
However I might just be tired or as I said - placebo.

Third:

- I think that Stereo Xpand is better also - more audible from rear.

Finally:

- Crystalizer seems a bit more smooth, but again - I may be wrong :P

Gotta check it with games to say final world, but at this point - They are nice.

I have Audigy 2 (Dell OEM) on my Dimension 8300, running XP SP2 all updates.

I extracted the downloaded file and installed the beta drivers using ctzapxx.exe in the \Drivers\support\i386 folder. The install went OK.

I noticed after install two extra items had been added to the startup registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run:

CtxfiReg, loads CTXFIREG.exe /FAIL1
CTxfiHlp, loads CTXFIHLP.EXE

Does anyone know what these are for? Do I need them?

(They are in addition to the usual CTHelper that loads CTHELPER.EXE, which I disable as I don't need it)

I disabled them from startup with no apparent ill effects, but would appreciate conments.

I think those are files needed by xFi and NOT Audigy... in fact the file is originally for xFi cards...

Thanks. That probably also explains the /FAIL1 switch. Really, imo, the installer should have detected that I don't need them and not put them there in the first place.
