best free software for removing comercials from avi video

I like avi splitter and avi joiner but after the 7 day trial i have to pay. Is there a free splitter and joiner out there for avi files? thank-you in advance

www.videohelp.com should be lots of free splitters & joiners, even some automatic ones that detect commercials

or just use virtualdub & manually delete the pieces where there are commercials, set everything to direct stream copy, & resave in a flash
