problem- burning avis to dvd
well i've been trying to use nero to burn xvid compressed AVI files to dvd.
i've been using the "make your own DVD-video" option in nero smart start. i am also trying to fit at least 12 half-hour episodes (of anime) onto the dvd, so i'm using the "super long play" option, which makes the resolution 352x480. my problem is that once the dvd is burned and i pop it into my dvd player and go to watch it on my 20" tv, the subtitles are cut off (which is very important because the anime is in japanese with english subtitles) so, how do i go about getting the subtitles visable while still having a relativly low resolution so i can still fit 12 episodes per disc? ![]() edit:i found out i can make a custom setting in nero, would burning it in 352x240 instead of 352x480 solve my problem? edit2: that didn't work either, subs are still cut off Last edited by g35x; Aug 24, 2007 at 07:49 PM. |

is the subs in the files (embed) or in subtitle files? if they are in files you should tell nero where is what's episodes subtitle.

Is it a widescreen set, in "expand picture losing top & bottom" mode?

there is no option like that (that i see anyway) in nero, but my tv is just a basic 20", not a widescreen or anything fancy |

Hmm... How many seasons you got there? I mean if you can fit 4-6 episodes to the disk then the quality would be good and resolution about the same than original. Some times is just better to have more DVD's than trying to fit all in one disk.

So what is the existing format?
Are the subtitles visible on the PC after conversion? SVCD2DVD: Author and burn DVDs: AVI to DVD, DivX to DVD, Xvid to DVD, MPEG to DVD, SVCD to DVD, VCD to DVD, PAL to NTSC conversion, HDTV2DVD, HDTV to DVD - try this as an alternative - as I understand it, the £1 offer also translates according to local exchange rate, so this is a can't miss for any video conversion requirements.

how much is £1 in $? i can paypal them in £ via paypal but i just don't know how many $ that is. that looks like a program i might have to pick up, because it does .mkv files also and that is the next problem i need to go about solving for burning anime (bleach was xvid compressed avis that when i burned the subtitles were cut off, and now i've been downloading mobile suit gundam in .mkv format )

testing the trial of svcd2dvd now, looks promising so far thanks for the link, hopefully the subtitles won't be cut off on my tv this time.
edit: gave me some sort of error at the end of converting

That's a lot.... I have some series as long as that but difference is I have DVD-player that has DivX support so I just burn the avi's to DVD. So you might want to star looking cheap DVD-Player with DivX support.

yeah, thats a really good idea because then i woulden't have to reduce quality so much and all i'd have to worry about then would be going from .mkv and .ogg to xvid (the bleach i have is xvid but i have other series in different formats, its a pain)
