Cant Convert / Re-encode an ASF File (very frustrating)
I am trying to convert an ASF file to DVD or even to another format so I can convert it to DVD. I can play the file in a few players, but there are 2 weird things about it. First of all most players except Media Player show the file as 0:00 minutes and in media player it shows up as 30 mins but the file is really about 1.25 hours. Second of all the file is not "seekable" in any players. I have tried to fix the file w/ video fixer and it hangs about 3/4 of the way through. (I have had great success w/ this program before.) I have tried to convert it w/ DVD santa, ASF tools, Cucusoft AVI pro, avidemux, VSO convertx to DVD, virtualdub, and I even tried to use windows media encoder. DVD santa, avi pro, and vso all give the error "cant determine duration." ASF tools goes through the process but the resulting file has no video....Avidemux just gives an error that says "cant save" which means it cant go through the conversion process....windows media encoder gives me a "catastrophic failure", and virtualdub doesnt support ASF files.
G-Spot says ASF (WMV/WMA) and rendering was successful w/ ffdshow AVI Codec says video is WMV9 (supported) and audio is WMA 9.1 (supported), but it is also showing the file as 0:00 duration. I feel that there has to be a way to fix / convert this file being that I can play it. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great. I am getting really frustrated. I did try downloading the WMV9 VCM from microsoft, but that didnt seem to do anything. Thanks Kevin

Well I finally fixed it.....I found a program called ASFBin, worked very quick and easy, and now the file will convert to DVD. Here is the link in case anyone else has the same problem.
