My new multitrack, suggestions wanted
It's here!
Buy Fostex MR-16HD 16-Track Digital Recorder online at Musician's Friend I can't wait to get out of work and get it fired up. I've never done any recording, at least from this side of the table, but it's been a dream for years. I'll mostly use it for DIY music purposes, and recording whatever ideas that pop into my head in the middle of the night. I got a cheap condenser mic with it free, but that's on back-order. So it looks like I'll have some time to just throw down some guitar and bass tracks until it comes in. I have some other mics and equipment from my days as a real muscian, so at least I have somethings to mess around with and learn the ropes. I've got a version of Ableton which I've started to learn to use as a drum machine. I like it as it's quite simple at least to get something down, and I don't need a controller right away. Mostly looking to use it as a drum machine, but there are some nice effects and other capabilities which I haven't explored. Problem is, I don't like the sound of the cymbals or the toms at all. Question, what can I do about it? Are there any affordable plug-ins that sound like real drums. Is there a way to tweak the current sounds to make them sound better. Is there maybe another program that I should be using instead of, or along with, Ableton? Anyone have decent, entry-level, reference material for it? Any other words you guys might have for a guy who's building an "on-the-cheap" studio in his basement are much appreciated. |

not sure what format the Live sampler uses, but you should be able to find compatible sample kits (if not you can always load individual samples into a kit for it)
