Is there a freeware software that hopefuly works under Vista 64, one can use to copy a (probably protected) DVD movie to another DVD? I am not looking for anything special or for heavy duty jobs. Just a couple every year or so.

DVD FAB Decrypter - after the extermination of DVD Decrypter, this should be your main port of call for a DVD ripper to enable fair use clip extraction, demolishing annoying region coding (if you have not already region-freed your player), and making a backup with the compulsory nag intro removed.

Once the protections are chopped, process with DVDstripper or any other program to trim unwanted content, and maybe dvdshrink to bring a double layer down to a single. DVDshrink can also remove unwanted titles, as well as additional soundtracks - the object when doing a double layer to single layer is to maximize the amount discarded to minimize the severity of recompression.

NB. If you are recompressing a lot, then using a program that does full recompression may be better than one that uses a transcoding shrink - transcoding is faster, but has higher losses.

It works, though I had to use the trial version to fit the whole thing in a 4.3GB DVD. This must be the easiest way to copy a dvd, ever.
