Spliting .flac file ...

Hi all audio guys!

I need a bit of your help. I got one .flac file from one DJ that I know and what I would like to do is to split it to separate tracks. I got the .cue file that defines the points where to cut but I have no idea how to cut it. And googling didn't help he at all..

Re: Spliting .flac file ...

Should able to just open it in Audacity, select the sections you want and save them as their own files.

I can go into some detail if that's too vague.

Re: Spliting .flac file ...

You can also do this with foobar2000. All you do is load the cue file, which will fill in the track list. From there you right-click the song you want, select "Convert", "Convert to..", and convert it to whatever format you need. WAV is the recommended format as you are essentially converting the file back into it's pure/raw form, and then convert from there into whatever you want, such as MP3 or individual flac files.

Re: Spliting .flac file ...

If you want to directly convert to MP3 then all you need is to grab the Lame MP3 Encoder. Drop the lame.exe and lame_enc.dll into the foobard2000 folder, and choose it instead.

The only glitch is that you have to create your own profile for other rates, because from what I remember the default foobar2000 Lame encoding profile is vbr 190kbps (variable level 2) fast encoding. I prefer to encode at vbr 245kbps (variable level 0) for most of the music I put on my MP3 player, so I have a profile setup for that, and a lower one for audio books.

Not a prob.

MP4 is supported by foobar2000 as well, btw. The encoder is HERE on Ahead's site. Just extract the 3 Win32 files into foobar2000s folder, and off you go.

Thanks again... heh it was fast as lightning for some reason foobar or nero encoder used all cores so the speed was around 100x
