Best music CD ripper?
The CD ripping tool I used to use doesn't seem to work anymore to get all the track info.
What's a good music CD ripper that captures all the track info? Do they still even make one that uses the CDDB to get that info anymore? I would prefer something in the freeware variety, but any good rippers would be helpful. I'd be ripping to the MP3 format. |

Re: Best music CD ripper?
Yeah, I don't do much CD ripping anymore either, but we had our music library crash and the backup drive was a little behind, so I want to re-rip some of my CD's to get the library back up to snuff.
Probably won't even get around to actually ripping anything for awhile, but I needed the proggie for when I do. Thanks for the suggestion! |

Re: Best music CD ripper?
+1 for EAC, it's probably the best you can get. I recommend to set it to Burst mode an do a Test&Copy, the ripping will be faster and not so drive-stressing. If you have some badly scratched CDs use the Secure mode.

I think two of the best pay programs is dBpoweramp & Easy CD-DA Extractor.

Re: Best music CD ripper?
I take a somewhat different approach to this as I have so many discs that do not have the typical gaps in between tracks, Pink Floyd for instance.
I use Winamp, no not just because it whips the Llamas ass but it has a disk writer output plugin, I write out the entire disc as a single .WAV file, listen to it and if necessary I use my Creative Labs Wav Tools to filter/correct any problems I heard. I then use the Creative Labs Format Converter app to convert to an MP3 format so I can create my own mix discs for listening in my car, it has a 6 disc change with the ability to play MP3 or WMA discs ![]() It also has the built-in CDDB from Internote I think they are called now... |

Re: Best music CD ripper?
Nope. I use it for ripping too (if ever). Is it inefficient at retaining all of the details of the songs?

Not that I rip CDs often. Last time I bought a music CD, Michael Jackson was still alive and Kylie Minogue was doing chemotherapy. And no, Firefox, Minogue is not Minotaur spelled wrong.

Re: Best music CD ripper?
I use iTunes, I find nothing beats it for quality to aac and it's got good CDDB ability. You can also rip to mp3, aiff and wave with it.

is it sad when I saw this I thought Firefox was a person's username? ^Agreed on AAC, and it's a nice touch iTunes has a built in converter (to aac/wav) from other formats for any song. |

Use Exact Audio Copy to rip to MP3 using Lame's latest mp3 encoder...
