Wonderful new addition to DH!

This type of exclusive forum is a really nice addition to all the great news and help forums here at DH.

I know I'm no expert and am eager to learn.

With my own connected systems, I've already been busy making game videos and such. Some of my work recently was used as Promo material for the recently released ATARI game, Deer Hunter 2004. I already have enough captured video to fill up a 40 GB HD. It's one of my favorite hobbies.

Anyway, this will be a very frequently visited forum for me.

I've been a beta tester for Infogrames (now Atari) for about 3 years now. There are three games I've tested for nFusion and one for SouthLogic Studios. S/L is the developer for Deer Hunter 2004. Infogrames/Atari, of course, is the publisher.

During testing, I do a lot of video capturing to show bugs, features, and what not. On the DH 2004 test, I was even given my own FTP folder to upload these files. What I was providing impressed them so much, they kept asking for more and more. Eventually, they put some of these videos up for download to show off the upcoming game.

One of the reasons this is so easy is due to my ability to output from my gaming video card to the Video In on my RADEON 64 VIVO, while using multiple display. Also, being able to capture in several formats makes it nice, too. Mostly, I've resorted to capturing in WMV format for file size purposes. I've used ATi's MMC for this purpose with great success.

All of this is enhanced by the use of Windows Movie Maker 2 and its ability to break down clips into workable sizes. Of course, if the clips are broken up or not used in sequence, that impacts the sound continuity. That's where my hearing problem makes it difficult. So, I normally try to capture the sequence so there's no need for breaks. It's really easy with the way I have my systems set up: My gaming rig right in front, and my capturing rig just to my left.

I've got some really cool videos of deer walking, raising their hind legs to scratch their ears, eating grass, licking their lips, and, of course, some excellent videos of shooting and tracking fallen deer.

Deer Hunter 2004 is a 'budget' title and it's probably not everyone's 'cup of tea'. But, for desktop hunting, I'd say it's quite realistic. The fans of the game are mostly enthralled with it. There are several hunting maps and a lot of other wildlife in the game. It provides online hunting for those who like that.

Let me know what you'd like to see, or what other information you'd like and I'll do my best to post it.

Damn thats impressive ! id like to see the video footage they used, if its ok for copyrights etc, I could even host it for our members on your behalf if you like? if its a massively large file I could break it up into rars and that way it wont be a massive download in one go. im a bit of a pussy though I dont think I want to see real deer getting shot, not if its graphic

ill set you up with FTP tomorrow dyre if you want so you can get it to me, im heading to bed right now to shake off this crappy flu/cold ive got.

Sharkims has me covered on FTP space.

I'll have to browse through my files and put up some of these.

Here's one of the earliest promo releases they put up. I can't even recall if we had sound in this version yet. It was linked exclusively for some very eager fans on one of the hunter fan forums.

Black-tail Doe (Right click and Save Target As...OR, make sure your WMV filetype is associated with your selected player.)

This one does show the doe getting shot. (I'm trying to fathom the aversion to seeing a deer get shot by a guy who'll wipe out gangsters right and left in MP2. )

This made me laugh in an evil sort of way Although, like Zardon, I can't watch an animal being shot!
