Need Divx work-around codec

I seem to have misplaced a codec I used to have that would allow divx based mpeg..audio/video files
to be played in Windows Media, without actually having to install anything divx.

Just a prefeence...I hate Divx.

Anyone know where I can get that codec?

TIA

?... you can download the Divx basic pack and install only the codec.... which will make dvix files play in your selected media player.... only way i know..... best solution... just durring install.. uncheck "Install DivX Player"

erg... majority of all the codec "packs" i've tried... have ended up installing a few things i don't want... such as filters or enhancers.....and trying to sift through the list of codecs... is a big pain to find these ones that bite...

I think it might've been the ffdshow filter: http://www.divx-digest.com/software/ffdshow.html

PS: I avoid "codec packs"
