Question about multiple passes on dvd backup (NOT DIVX!)

Ok, I made a dvd backup of Blow (awesome movie) with dvd shrink but it only allowed me to do two passes. Considering that it only takes 35 minutes for one pass I was wondering if it's possible to do more than 2 in DVDShrink or a program like it. Anyone got a clue?

Not sure about passes but you should put deep analysis on if you haven't already

Passes are for quality nuts, it analyzes the movie to see where lots of movement is to put more padding on it for less pixelations, most compressed dvds I get from actual rip groups do 7 passes, and they don't use that DVDShrink BS.

I would agree but using something like CCE has a very steep learning curve. Of the easier ones to use I would suggest Pinnacle Instant Copy 8, takes longer than DVD Shrink but overall quality is worth the wait. Intervideo DVD Copy 2 has been getting some good press as well...there is a comparative test here that suggests Intervideo wins but note that comparison was done using Instant Copy 7 not 8 which has made some improvemnets to the encoding engine.

This I already knew. I just want to do more than 2 passes.

Then you might have to encode with a different program, I've heard great things of quality coming from CCE, but it isn't free >.<

I haven't paid for a CD, Movie, Game or software of any sort in over three years.

try Gordian Knot www.divx-digest.com look it up under encoding software...it lets you rip straight to DiVX...or just rip to vob files and encode those into whatever fformat you can think of (I usually use double pass XviD)

I have a DVD burner. I don't do DIVX/XVID anymore.

i know...it does that too...it rips them all to vob files, which you then drop into the VIDEO_TS folder in any burner program alogn with a blank folder called AUDIO_TS and voila....copied DVD

Ok, any program can decrypt a DVD. But does that program downsample the dvd so it fits on a 4.7gb DVDR?

www.doom9.org has the guides u want. checkem out they have a really good guide, infact many.. but their not for beginers.
