hmm, even if I had that it would be no use since my DVD player is still NTSC. I was hoping there would be a way to rip, re-encode, and burn it on a new disk. Probably not possible though.
Thanks |

Okay, here's an update on this. This is what I have done until now, step by step.
Ripped movie as File using DVDdecrypter Used DVD2AVI to make all the VOBs into one AVI file Loaded TMPGEnc and started the conversion. Now that final step is a killer. It still has 10 hours to go from the total 22 it started with But I'll let you know how the conversion went, its probably taking so long because I chose Very high quality lol. Many thx to Vamp and ^_^ for all the help. |

Okay, time for the final update. After loosing 30 something hours to stupid ScanDisk I restarted from scratch and I must say the video came out great! The only setback is that the stupid sound is gone
But I give up, my rig has been encoding this stupid thing for three days in a row and I've had enough. Sorry I couldn't have more positive newsBtw, thx the compliment ^_^, you better hope you don’t even need help

lol...all you need to do is get the audio in 1 file(mp2 is preferred), the video in mpeg format(m2v), and put them into a DVD author and it'll have sound on the disc

CBR is constant bitrate, VBR is variable bit rate...i use CBR
and use MP2 and not LPCM....LPCM is linear PCM audio(i forget what pcm stands for) |

WHY IS IT TAKING 32 HOURS to encode? it has never taken more than a whole night for me to do anything.
first off, what are your system specs? secound ... if your using something like XMPEG or whatever, that will take GOD KNOWS how long... use something else.

I'm using TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 on a 2.6GHz A64. With very high quality settings it took 25 hours and now I'm using the Best Guess or something setting and it will take about 19 hours(looks just as good from a small clip I made). Also running very high quality noise removal too. Not sure why its taking this long-maybe because its going from 24 to 30fps?- the movie is about 130 minutes long. My guess is this is why people buy P4's?

I noticed that it only encodes into one mpeg file instead of m2v and wave files with that setting |

NO, people use AMD's to do encodes too... in fact its my 1st choice to choose AMD to do this stuff, i used intels all the time, and by far AMD is way faster! however i do think hyperthreading does have small advantages, if u find an application to work with it. yea tho it shouldnt take more than 10 hours MAX!!!! on your hardware, you are just using some really messed up settings you shouldnt be... and yes, it would take a bit longer for the frames from 25 to 30fps conversion... but not annother 9 hours worth.

Yeah, without the noise removal I was able to cut it down to under 5 hours. Weird it gives that much of a hit lol.
Thanks for the help |

Noise removal takes a lot of time, should only be used for bad source video.

Muahhh.. Sorry but i think none of the MODs here really know something about that topic....
As u know: Pal is 25 FPS... If u want to Convert it to NTSC u first have to decide: 23,xx FPS NTSC Film or 29,xx FPS NTSC. The Best way (without losing Frames) is NTSC 29,xx FPS. 1st rip the DVD.. (Smartripper or DVD Decrypter (movie only!) 2. use DVD2AVI (u´ll get all Audios and a d2v file) Then u can create an AVS file. (Avisynth.. usage look on doom9.org for exact Commands for that) After that use besweet to transfer the audios from LDPCM (or whatever) to Ac3 2.0 (inc conversion 25 FPS to 29,xx FPS) With the Besweet GUI u can simply choose it *G* After hat u can Author a new DVD using IFOEdit or if u want a Menu also .. DVDLab Pro. So long... |

Easiest way to do this would be to convert it to mpeg with nero express 3 it will ask you whether you want to keep the file as pal or convert to ntsc, once this is done then you can use a dvd creating program (could use nero for that also) to create the .vob files etc
