Nero... needs a little adjustment

I've recently picked up video editing. The video of choice being a friends wedding. I made them into avi at the time because it was convenient.

Looking through here nero looked good and everything was going quite well till it pops up with a message saying it wont allow me to burn a disk because the disk drive can't possibly be able to burn over 4.5GB without being a DVD-9 disk.

The disk is 4.7gb.
I want to burn 4.57gb
I mean it even detects it as 4.7 gb in the dialogue.

So after updating I was expecting some make it snappy. Then it says that it does not detect a DVD-9 drive so it cant possibly burn my project.

When the heck did nero start thinking for me? I'm aware that I can do simple math. Where it cant seem to.

Anyway I'm looking for recommendations. It looks like I'm going to have to put the file on disk and go burn with some other program, but that is a real hassle when I'm low on disk space.

So anyone know of a way to trick the dumb program?

well that limation is the for a reson it's lost due to formating and the Diskindex/fat table what ever you want call it. There allso is a regon on the outside edge thats burnable but out side some drivers limitations. Some drives you can literally burn off to the edge...

Look in the options... view preferances...

Make sure DVD over burning is enabled...

I am sometimes dissapointed with Nero, I tried using vision express 2 to convert a XVID to DVD and the sound was out of sync by a few seconds. I went back to my much longer but accurate routine.

yeah, you are at the absolute limit of what the disk can hold. See if it will let you overburn but beware it can damage some drives.

Nero won't burn the whole thing. I think I'm just going to stop using it. Sonic MyDVD can burn the whole 4.7GB. Though unfortunately it has nag ware that pops up about 5 minutes after you start your machine up. I'll find something else.

Thanks for the advice.

DO NOT use any NERO Express versions.... they are so simplistic they are ment for the utterly uncomputer savy..... Doesn't matter what version of Express... it will either give you crap like that... or tell you what you have to do with zero options.... Gotta get the full version of Nero Burning rom....
