I have a 4.87Gb video file. how can i fit it on a DVD disk?

hello guys, i have recorded alot of video (about 1hr 44mins) and put it onto my computer. The filesize is 4.87Gb. How can i fit it onto a DVD disk?
when ever i try buring it to dvd it says more disk space required.
can u please help me?

try a program called DVD Shrink. Unfortunately it is not free.

will DVD shrink, shrink files that are in am MPEG format or just DVD?

Ok firstly what format are the files in? im thinking if its raw video (not DVD vobs) you might be looking into a more complex solution to encode the files to VOB/specific size.

yes..if this isn't DVD video, you will have to author the vob files, which requires a DVD authoring program (TMPGEnc, NeroVision, etc)...but...if that si the case..msot of them can compress it for you and automatically adjust it to fit on one disc(by usign comrpession, so a little quality would be lost on a 4.78GB file unless you can go dual layer)

ok the file is one long 4.87GB MPEG file.
when i try to make a DVD disk useing Nero 6 i cannot open the MPEG file, cause it searches for .vob .bup and i think .ifo files. How can i convert the MPEG to .vob?

woohoo! i found a way to do it.
All along i had Ulead DVD maker and didnt know i could do it with that.
I just opened the MPEG, exported it has .vob files then shrinked them with DVD shrink.
