n00b in terms of making dvd's.
Hi just wondering if people can help me out. This is the situation. I have downloaded a few tv shows etc, probably enough to fill a DVD. The movies come as .avi and .mpg. Is there something easy out there I could use to get these on a DVD. Maybe there is a really good guide out there that even a n00b can use to make a DVD. I have a DVD burner but for the most part I use it for Data. I'd like to start putting some of these shows onto a DVD so I can better watch them on my big screen. If you can help me out, I'd appreciate any and all tips for doing this. I don't really want to get into ripping audio and then merging it etc, that's retarded. I just want something easier than Adobe Premiere to put this stuff on DVD. I tried making VCD's before etc but the quality totally sucks and I gave up. Now that I've had this DVD burner for a while, I want to dabble for fun in putting some of these shows on a DVD with menu etc.

I was going to try a VCD but you mention that the quality is bad. Can you tell me if both the picture and sound are bad and how many 1 hours shows can you store on a CD. I also hope someone answers your question becuase I am thinking about buying a Pioneer double layer DVD player but have no experience with creating DVDs.
Thanks, Don |

God, if I remember I was able to put approx 3 or 4 shows cutting credits and stuff off. Basically with VCD you always get the voice synchronization problems. Kinda with those bad Cam movie rips. It just really affects my pleasure when a guy is done talking and his lips keep flapping. See like I have a lot of Simpsons season DVD. One thing I'd like to do is rip all the Halloweens off and put em on one DVD. Or take my video's from my cam and easily put them on DVD. Previously I was doing it all on VCD, but resolution stinks on a big screen tv (42" widescreen). So it's DVD writing software I'd like to use. I've tried Nero but I hate the plugins stuff, 3/4 of the DVD plugins are crap and Nero has crashed during writing DVD. This is all why I am posting. I figure there must be people who do this in their sleep that know what software to use to do what I want to do. So essentially the media I want to put on DVD is, TV shows downloaded off net(come in avi/divx and mpeg) and then taking shows off my retail simpsons dvd's and putting them on another dvd. At same time I'd put some movies off my cam as well. Oh and I tried EASY Media Creator.. but it too has problems where it sort of freezes my whole computer when I read certain files..(mostly shows downloaded, guess because they are divx). Also, I have installed this 3000in1 codecs for Windows, so I assume I have most every codec needed.

Nero Vision eXpress does a good job putting videos on DVD with a menu for those who don't want to learn anythign technical and have a program do it allf or them.
If you're up for a steeper learning curve, try TMPGEnc DVD Author/Encoder |
