WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER and SP2 problem?

Windows movie maker freezes and automaticaly becomes non-responsive when opened.
I wondered if windows SP2 update has anything to do whith it? Because I rarely use it, I havn't noticed that problem before. Can anyone comment.

Thanks for the threads. Ill, have to go through them. Another thread happend to mention memory leaks, but at the moment Im more inklind to think it something to do with the installation of the newer version, included on SP2. Normaly with most software its a matter of uninstalling and reintstalling, but WMM is part and parcel of the windows setup and as well with the SP2 pack. I was thinking of just, reinstalling SP2, but then again I might just run into other problems with existing programs and still not fix it.

Though, there is another thread in audio/video that points to a problem in regards to the installation of the newer version on SP2 of which I will have to follow up.
both of your case and the case in the other thread can be the same cause which is the WMM 2 was not properly installed.

in the other thread as you see Dyre Straits did a reformat/reinstall of the XP,
you don't have to do it yet but to check the program system files as pointed by the above link that Md5 provides. also pls give us more info by checking in the Windows Task Manager as i mentioned in the other thread..

I discovered that when Intervideo WinProducer 3 was installed Windows Movie Maker 2.1 did not function. And, when WinProd3 was uninstalled, WinMovieMaker appeared to function perfectly.
