no sound with sound recorder or...
anyother sound editing utility or playback utility but Windows MediaPlayer. It dosn't give any errors when opening up a sound file (sound recorder,WavePad, SoundForge) but they will not play any sound when I click on play. I have an onbaord sound card, Realtek97 and have checked it audio poperties and do not see anything wrong. Volume control is turned all the way up as is, Wave, SW Synth, SPDIF, LineIn, CDplayer as well as everything else.

in your sound control panel, make sure you are viewing the "record" settings|
then select the source you are trying to record, and make sure it isn't muted

make sure the recording source is correct...my audigy does that a lot. It'll switch over to "what you hear" when I wanna use my mic, or vice versa
