Step Sequencer for BFD?

Is there a Step Sequencer that can handle the multichannel happenings of the BFD plugin? Fxpansion itself doesnt make one . . .
OR
Am I just better off dropping some cash on a Roland set or a good Midi Keyboard and relying on the Quantisizing(sp?) in Pro Tools or Sonar or some such program ?

I know it can be Rewired to Cubase. Does Cubase have a step sequencer with good velocity control? If I can stay away from buying a 500 dollar midi keyboard I definatly want too. It says here that BFD uses "Disk-Streaming sample playback"

I spose then the buttons in a step seq. arent all that important. It was just a pleasent interface in Reason. I guess I wont know how Ill like using the paino roll, either programing them to the grid or using a keyboard with tempo correction, until I give it a go. Given well designed sensitivity triggers, the thought of a keyboard intruiges me. .more expressive I would imagine.

So a pretty general question: What is a good review site for Keyboard, triggers, and such. What do you use yourself? (if any)

Danke

i personally have no external MIDI gear of any kind, nor do i know of any review sites… but the m-audio or evolution USB/MIDI keyboard lines should suit your needs

Why Cant they just make things Simple ?!

Ok so I think Im gonna hold off with buying any midi triggers until I can afford a really nice set of Roland drums. I like this roll sequencer more and more as I work with it. Im confused on a few things however. I am reading a couple ebooks on Midi but none of them answer this. In sonar I can load BFD as either a DXi synth plugin or a Rewire device. I was wondering what the advantages or disadvantages to either setup are.

When I load it as a DXi synth it gives me the option for What outputs in the BFD Id like to make tracks for. Either BFD "All", "Stereo" or "Grouped". BFD "all" gives me a track for each channel in BFD, namely the differant mics used. upper snare, lower snare, overhead, kick in, kick out, etc.

Am I better off controlling the mix within the BFD application and then making one track in sonar ("Stereo") or am I better off just cranking all the outputs in the BFD application and tweaking/muting them seperatly in Sonar.

I am asking these questions assuming you have some experiance with this specific program/setup type If this assumption is false, Id be very greatful if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks again for all your help man.

i personally use a different channel for each drum sound, gives me more control within the sequencer over the levels and any compression/eq'ing that i need on the seperate drums. Takes a little more work to set up, but it gives more control
