Blu-Ray is the better choice despite its initial flaws in terms of higher manufacturing costs. In the long run it will save consumers the trouble of changing to another format.

HD-DVD imo, lower costs and not like the size difference matters that much. 30gb vs 50gb. How many people even have a hd over 80gb except for the hardcore user or various proffesionals. Not to mention I havent heard anything about Recorders for either formats yet, what good is 30gb vs 50gb if I cant use the formats to store my data... what kinda prices we looking at for the discs and players/recorders?

Not to mention that Holographic Storage will make both formats obsolete, 1 TERABYTE storage...

It feels like the large movie companies push for Blu Ray due to various copyright protections yada yada, while the consumer and smaller enterprises would benefit from HD-DVD due to its lower manufacturing costs and backward compatibility with the current DVD formats.

Have you ever downloaded a few minute clip of HD? I want the best quality possible so I voted Blu-Ray. HD-DVD will have similar protection either way, and it wouldn't take much to make a B.R. player play current DVD's. It won't matter much anyway since they'll both be very expensive when they come out. Just look at HD-VHS. BTW, I loathe Sony too so if they up the size on HD-DVD I'll go for it.

I think most people who do not care for Sony are people who have had bad experiences with them. I have had countless bad experiences with most Sony items I have bought from them so I gave up on their damn company.
