Audigy 2 vs Onboard Sound Question

I am thinking of upgrading from my Abit Av8 onboard sound to an Audigy 2 Value. Is there likely to be a noticable difference in sound and realism in my games like BF2?

do you have headphones? If you have Headphones I would say no. Try to get reverberation also with headphones, its better than 7.1 surround.

I use both, but prefer speakers.

A2>Onboard by far, not matter if you are using speakers or headphones - with decent headphones you will notice the difference more readily than speakers

Also think of it like this. What sounds better a compact bookshelf system or a separate hand picked component system?
