Can't get Mic to work

I just reformatted my comp and got the 5.10 Unified driver package for Windows XP. I have an A7N8X-Deluxe with nforce 2 soundstorm. When I try to get the mic to work, I get no signal. It was working fine with my last windows installation, but now, nothing. I raised the volume and everything with both the mixer and audio settings, but nothing seems to work. The driver included in the driver pack is 4.42 or something.

The earlier drivers that don't use NVmixer get the mic to work, but it is very quiet and I can't seem to raise the mic volume to a suitable level on those drivers. It is driving me crazy that the mic is now working, and I have spent probably 4 hours trying to get it to work.

Please help!
