DVD burning on the fly

I use Nero7 premium and dvd43. My primary is a DL 16x dvd burner and my slave is a DVD reader. What I wanna do is put a movie in my slave and copy it to a DL disc in my primary on the fly, can this be done?

dont know but....the way i copy dvds is dvd shrink (google it) it reads the dvd puts it in a temp file on the harddrive and then burns it....(but it has to record to the temp because movies you buy are 8gig dvds and you would wana burn them on 4gb dvds so dvd shrink....shrinks them) oh and welcome to DH

I've got DVD shrink and used that in the past. But I recently bought a dual layer burner and got some dual layer discs. So I don't need to compress the movie file because it should fit on a dual layer disc. What I wanna know is can I by-pass ripping the movie and just copy it from my slave dvd drive to a dual layer disc in my primary dvd burner (without ripping it to my HD) You know, just disc to disc?

BTW-thanks for the welcome! This is a great forum sight.

I think I am better off just ripping then burning. I heard thier was a program that allowed you to copy disc to disc but it has a high error rate. I thought I would just ask though, in case someone here knew of a good method. But I think your right, I'll do it the old way. Plus yeah, DL discs are expensive! I was just going to use them for my favourite movies.

Huh, now I have a useless extra DVD drive.

once u Rip them to yer HD, shrink and decrypter get ridda the anti pirate shit, or works around it, once you ve burned the image, then try to do a disk to disk, i think that might be possible but not exactly what u wanted to do

If you use some thing like AnyDVD it might just be possible. However, your computer will have to keep up.

By keeping up, what kind of specs are we talking about? Currently I'm using pretty old stuff: xp 3200+, 1 gig ram(not dual channel), 250gb 7200rpm maxtor 8mb buffer, x800pro. Building a new comp once M2 boards are out, but in the meantime I'll look into "AnyDVD"

Thanks all!
