I don't like the name

"Steam" is simple and catchy. "GameTap" is okay and indicative of something. But AWOMO? I'm not even sure how to pronounce it, and telling someone about it would probably require spelling it out. That's if I don't get confused. It even looks dirty. Is "a womo" a lesbian (woman homosexual) or what?

IMO you should look for a better name.

Ah! Woh Mow!

I am not crazy about the name either, but it's a minor issue for me.

Re: I don't like the name

I'm not used to it and I have a tendency to invert to last two syllable.

AWOMO
AMOWO

Apart from that, it's okay.

Re: I don't like the name

AWOMO originally stood for 'A World Of My Own' - in early incarnations we had a 3D virtual world you walked around in to launch games, a bit like PlayStation Home. This is still part of the long term plan but we're focused on the download client side of things - getting that working is priority.

AWOMO just stuck from there. Hey is 'Hoover' or 'Ford' that much better?

And before someone else posts it, we're there before you on AWOMOsexuals.

Well, yes. The fewer syllables and the easier to remember it is, the better. I'm not saying that it'd kill the platform or anything, but it's far from being catchy.

Re: I don't like the name

Okay, sorry but I gotta admit I'm not a big fan of the name myself, I don't know if it's going to be the final name for the service but might I propose having a brain storm competition here on DH like Asus had a while ago for their slogan when beta goes public? Might get something you like, never know.

Edit: the complete expansion of the acronym itself is real nice, just the acronym I think sounds a little...I don't know, average? Like ET said it's not as catchy as steam or kenwood or something. But then again I think Steam to me sounded crappy at first and I think in that respect it could become quite the catchy name in future imo.

Re: I don't like the name

I think if the service provides what it says it will, the name won't matter

Obviously as Skimpy said it was carried over from the original plans to incorporate a 3D world, perhaps the name will be better suited and more accepted when or if this becomes the case.
