3D mark 03 (430 Mhz core 800 Mhz Ram): 5106 (using 71.25 MSI drivers)
3D mark 03 (stock 390 core 700 Mhz Ram): 5008 (using 71.89 Nvidia drivers)

I'll be sure to post my comps bench score as soon as I build and mod it, my last score was 1.5k pretty sad. So lets see exactly what 1,500 bucks does to improve my score : )

alright....i'm kinda dissapointed ATM. I know i must be doing something wrong here cuz this new card is supposed to be WAY better than my 6800GT. I've been benching and my scores have actually dropped some on both '03 and '01

! But for some reason, they have gone up significantly in '05. I was expecting my scores to go up in all three of the 3Dmark benches.

My score in '03 has dropped 1,200pts. w/the card OCed to 550/590. '01 i know it's going to drop some. i ran my rig all stock and i scored 17.7k pts. in '01. I guess that's alright, but i can already feel the scores being lower than my 6800GT in those two benchmarks.

i'm not going to go PCI-E for at least another year or so. I'm not getting a 7800GTX just for the performance. I'm going to go PCI-E when i decide i actually need to have it, which ATM is not right now.

Well I want my comp to last and be prepared for the future. I'm tired of always having a computer that is way to slow for the time it is in and doin half ass upgrades. I want a nice comp for once in my life so I'm goin to do it the right way.

My latest 3DMark2K3 score is 10944. I did a little overclocking with the CPU from 3.2 to 3.38 and the X800 XL to 432Core/513Memory and set the fan speed manually to 90%. Setting the fan speed manually seemed to be the key to keeping the GPU cool enough to finish the tests.

I can OC much higher.. but not really interested in pushing the limit with this card.. Just run benchies at te same speed I play games at.

fan speed-

Above 0- 45%
Above 45- 70%
Above 50- 90%
Above 60- 100%

(GPU temp around 40 when idle at desktop and around 50 in games)
I want to baby this card at least until I get better memory cooling.. they get pretty hot. Stock GPU cooling seems to work pretty good, but I think an aftermarket cooler could do a lot better. What is the one that os made fore this card that cools the memory too??
Does it work that much better than default cooler?

. Works great. My temps dropped about 8 degrees when i installed mine, and it has cooling for both memory and GPU

. Easy to install, can't go wrong with it

I probably will sometime just see whats goin on, but I'm goin to new egg right now for most my stuff, I'll probably drive out there when I forgot something or other or feel need to upgrade. Does PC Club sell processors and vid cards? Cause last time I was in ther I bought memory, but I didn't make an effort to see if you guys had it.

ya man, we have pretty much everything but ink cartriges

. Last week we had 2 512Mb x800xl in stock. ATM we have 1 7800GTX and some other mid range cards. But that was as of monday. I had off yesterday, so i don't know what came in yesterday's shipment, and we have shipment today as well. So i'm really out of the loop as far as to what we have.

That chart is a little misleading, for instance my 9800pro was on a 9800xt pcb...

There must be someone out there that has an AGP X800XL (the big huge one) that has used one of these coolers.. Maybe not on DH, but somewhere.

I have a feeling one of them will work.

it looks to me like the silencer 5 rev.2 would work the best on ur card because it is pcie and agp and the mounting holes are similar hope that helps<NUKE>

Yeah I was looking at that page the other day, but I didn't see it said AGP on there- Thx, I might buy it.. but I saw in a review those things make you use thermal pads.. Not to thrilled about that. They still fit perfectly on the chips with paste.

With the new Omega Drivers based on CAT 5.9, I ran 3DMark2K3 and scored my third highest score to date with my new X800 XL. This score is less than 300 points below my highest score with some overclocking. The newest score is without overclocking at all.

Well, I'm not really overclocking anything except my vidcard. For this particular run I tightened my RAM timings from what the BIOS default was selecting, and then pushed my card up to GPU-420;MEM-525. I have plenty of room to overclock my CPU and haven't even gone there.....yet.
