Internet/Network benchmark
Well I ran across this benchmark that basically gives you an idea of your connections gaming capability. http://gamer.ubicom.com/benchmarks/benchmarks.php I scored a 4.32/5.0 for internet connection, and only a 0.56/5.0 for QoS. Does anyone know exactly how QoS works or how to increase it's performance?

Prioritize packets?
Is there a way to prioritize game packets through windows? I know the DGL 4300 is a gaming router that has firmware that does this, but I'm currently using the Belkin N1 Wireless router.

There are allot of programs you can install that are supposed to take advantage of the quality of service technology. I personally have never heard anybody say they worked very good. There are also programs you can install that make it easy to set the network traffic priority on a per application basis. The large picture is that unless you are gaming and downloading large files at the same time then there really is nothing you can do to decrease your latency while gaming without using software or hardware. You can read up on how to optimize your network settings based on your internet connection speed. |
