I want to see someone enter with a PII or something, see how much better they can get that going over the stock speeds

That's what it is about, best over stock anything! The better you get above stock the more chances you have. Random draw, not a who has the most expensive or best equipment deal.

Not at all Lowfat. Everybody gets a chance at some fun is all. And any boints follow you wherever you register so... register the bot back with Xtreme when it's over. Chance at a couple of decent prizes and a bit of knowledge gained perhaps is all.

I looked over how it is judged, i might have to sign up then. I thought it was just for the highest over stock, not from ballots. My CPU is a horrible clocker.
I won't learn anything though, my SuperPi knowledge is super dooper

Do you know if we can enter more than one CPU?

Just one as far as I know. I will PM Snafu and ask. Best to pick the one which gives you the best improvement from stock to overclocked times in PI 1M and 32M. Maybe you are allowed different ones in each category though? I will post back and let you know.
Be a good first post question for you to ask there then everyone will see what is what. |

"Stock cooling" Just means air as opposed to dry ice, LN2, phase, cascade etc. That is to get your baseline score and you go up from there. Nobody would want to risk a SuperPI 32M run at stock settings using dry ice. Chances for disaster and the effort involved are prohibitive. All there really is to know about running SuperPI is download it: http://www.xtremesystems.com/pi/ Unzip it and doubleclick the .exe file, click the calculate tab at top left and use the pop up to choose the run you want to make. The 1M and 32M runs are being used for the contest. I would suggest you wait till you have A LOT of time to run the 32M on that machine Judas. Do this without any overclock all auto or stock settings in the BIOS and take a screenshot of the result with the PI calculation done popup still open and 3 instances of CPU-Z open in the screenshot. One with the CPU tab, one, with the memory tab, and one with the SPD tab open. Also a temp monitoring program shot is asked for in the screenie. Then tweak your system to it's most uber performance levels, FSB, RAM timings, voltages, OS tweaks etc. to obtain your best possible time in the SuperPI run. Take another screenshot like above and that is it. It is best not to have any other programs running when doing the actual run in SuperPI. Don't open the CPU-Z and temp monitoring programs till after the run. They will actually slow down SuperPI if left open during the run. There are a lot of tweaks to learn but most of them involve your BIOS settings, your actual knowledge of what makes your rig run it's fastest. OS tweaks and fresh installs help etc. etc. |

Someone at the site actually did a SuperPI 32M run on some 486's, his results are on page 3 of this thread: http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/sho...hlight=fastest

lol
BTW, there is no bios really... all the settings are set via jumpers and dip switches... many of them.

Why not use your best rig and throw up the scores? Get some ballots in on that Mountain Mods case. |

meh.. nothing there REALLY intrigues me enough to jump on it atm with what i've got to do atm..
browsing the DH forums is taking up just enough time between windows installs and program installs and diagnostics and whatnot... etc.

Well if you find the time go for it anyway, nice to see how well others can do with their rigs.
