Re: Futuremark 3DMark/PCMark Vantage Thread

Well, do I need to disable PhysX in the Nvidia control panel, disable the PhysX test, or both?

Just in the NV control panel gives a true reading of your CPU. Either way kickass system man

Yeah, it does. I just bought an XPS 730 this morning and it will arrive next Thursday. The specs are:

Code:
Vista x64
1000w psu
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 3.67ghz
nForce 790i Tri-SLI
8gb DDR3-1600
I'm already wanting to upgrade the cpu to the QX9770 and add another GTX 285. It will be interesting to see what the bench is when I have it all complete.

You're lucky! That sounds unreal. I wish I could sell my car for specs like that!

Well, I'm wanting to get it to the point to where I won't have to upgrade anything for quite awhile. Everything will cost me in the neighborhood of $1700 but once it's complete, I'll be able to sit back and enjoy it.

Well, here's the latest bench results from my new rig. I'll be upgrading to the QX9770, another GTX 285, and 8gb DDR3-1800 in the near future so it should bump me a little higher.

Re: Futuremark 3DMark/PCMark Vantage Thread

That is because the test is designed to check the CPU's ability to process PhysX, with Nvidia PhysX enabled the GPU or GPU's take over and do the test instead of the CPU. You will notice in his screenie with PhysX enabled his CPU score actually was higher than the person who ran his Core i7 Extreme edition CPU @ 4.3GHz.

My rig with a Q9650 overclocked to 3.875GHz and a BFG GTX 280 OC only scores P12043, the CPU score is 15585 and the GPU score is 11195

PCMark Vantage

13454 ORB - Compare

The HDD tests are considerably lower on this 120GB OCZ Vertex vs the 80GB Intel X25-M that I was using before.

The PhysX does affect the score considerably. I don't see your video card listed in your specs what are you running?

Keep in mind as well some of these scores are from people running more than one video card in SLI ... like PH3N0M he is running 2 x GTX285's.

(PhysX takes some of the processing away from the CPU)

I loved the way my PC performed on this setting. Dizzying.

I had to overclock to pick up from 7700 for this setting.

I was surprised I scored so well on this setting. Wow.
