Default Post Win9x/ME 9039 quick-tests.....

Out of 50+ games that I quick-tested*, I only had 2 problems that I've found so far, Whiplash(or Fatal Racing, depending on how you got it ) shows a garbled screen in SVGA. Rollcage 2(Death Track Racing, according to the packaging) will run fine, but when you exit...it won't re-run until you reboot. It seems to kill any hardware acceleration, according to DXdiag, for all games until you reboot. It only does that in Win98se, not WinXP, which, of course, use a different set of drivers. Aside from those problems, they seem fine. For me, the 9016 drivers are still the best, a little slower, but I had zero problems with those, and to me, that's what counts. Naturally, I reported these "bugs" to ATI.

I'm a gamer, compatibility is MUCH more important to me than an extra couple frames per second, I consider anything over 30fps to be good enough. For now, I'm gonna revert back to the ones that worked for me and wait for the next driver release.

* Quick-testing is when I run a game for a couple minutes to verify compatibility and watch for changes in operation and performance.

Yeah, it would be cool if they made an updated version to Whiplash using todays graphic power. If they DID make a newer version of it, I don't know about it. Was there one? I'd go get it in a heartbeat, I LOVE racing games.

BTW, I was able to revert to the 9016 drivers(my preferred set) without reverting any of the other stuff(capture driver, multimedia etc.) All games WORK again. Yay.
