Re: DH SuperPI Results
not sure I rate this at all to be honest. never really have. its more a frequency test than a multiprocessing test which bears very little in relation to real world performance. only partially loads 2 cores of the 16 core EP system I have.

Re: DH SuperPI Results
Well its actually not really about efficiency either, thats a part of the point im making. I used to hang around a lot on xtremesystems.org and i know its a hugely popular application over there. I personally feel it shows very little of use to anyone in real world terms. A person on a slightly lower clocked quad for example will score less than someone on a highly clocked dual. Reality quite often is the reverse. Which is the point im making.
I have never been a fan of synthetic benching because it really is quite meaningless. and this application imo is one of the worst. I dont think anyone in their right mind would assume that a dual core Intel chip at 4ghz is better than say a 16 "core" EP at 2.8-3ghz. Thats basically what that app will show however (I see 41% CPU use on ONE core on a system which I can't really discuss under intel NDA atm). But ill quit posting in here, its great you are making the effort and I appauld it. hope you guys have fun with it

Re: DH SuperPI Results
I completely understand, but which benchmark is then a good representative? 3Dmark06 is very dependent on CPU score (Quad core wins almost all the time), but in 2006 there weren't many games (you could count them on one hand) that used a Quad core. Even now few games support it. And then you have 3mark Vantage, that when you enable PhysX on your NV card your score gets a great boost. However, how many games support PhysX? Also a few.
And there are definitely also Now a days those benchmarks are just about getting high scores. For some people it's even a hobby. Making cash is also one of the reasons behind the whole thing. Even games aren't such a great comparison tool, because each game reacts different on every system. One game uses the CPU more and the other the graphics card. Because not all games use the full potential of a quad core, a duo core often delivers higher FPS. Simply because those two cores are higher clocked. So it's just which game or benchmark you run. They all react differently. I just wanted to get a topic started so the whole benchmarking scheme here on DH would maybe be improved. And because these benchmarks react quite well on overclocks people will want to get that little bit of score more to end up higher in the score list. |

@hobo - You would beat me probably in FSB, I can only get about 500 on this X48... P45 will probably clock a bit better. EDIT: Moved this to the newly relocated benching subforum

Re: DH SuperPI Results
Under dry ice, I no longer have the Extreme, it now resides in Australia, well as of last November it did anyways. My son now has the GA-P35-DQ6 mobo in his rig. One of the best mobos I have ever owned.

Re: DH SuperPI Results
Acetone, used an F1 by KingPin with lots of tissue paper, overflowed quite a bit as it is an LN2 pot and is quite small for dry ice.

Nice to see some results. Apparently there is a huge difference between C2D and a AMD X2. Nevertheless, nice job

Added them both.
ViRuS2k, can you fill this form in?: Username: SuperPI score: CPU: CPU speeds: “original” @ “overclocked” RAM: RAM speeds: "speed" @ “timings” Mainboard: Cooling: And could you also make a screen where I/we could actually see the run (loops and the Finish screen)? I now put a question mark with your score. If you post a screen like I said it will be added
