PC Mark 7 - Hanging Up on me

I've installed, uninstalled, and then re-installed the current release of PC Mark 7.

This is the Basic Free version.

It runs the test where it shows a video with cars, people, and horses moving around.

BUT, when it gets to the test for gaming storage, it just hangs. I've left it running for upwards of 20 minutes at that spot and it never has gotten past it. For a while there's something happening as my PC's activity light flickers for a while. But, even that eventually slows down to an occasional blip.

Anyone else run this and able to complete it?

Maybe you can add to my thread and generate some more attention.

What a JOKE!!!

So, I decided to run the little performance test app they provide to see what, if anything, it found that might be causing a problem. Somebody over there needs to get their head straightened out....

I haave TWO HD6870s in CFX in my system, each with 1 GB of VRAM, and I also have 12 GB of system RAM. Take a close look at the warning again...

As long as i've had my 2 2GB 5870s, i don't remember ever seeing FM systeminfo report the correct amount of vram. Always showed 0 MB for me.

As for your problem did you try what worked for me, disable any GPU acceleration you might have enabled?

Actually, GPU Acceleration was already unchecked by default. I tried enabling it. No dice. The app still won't get past the checking gaming storage.

Almost exactly one year later...

There is an update for PC Mark 07.

However, even with the update installed, this benchmark STILL hangs on my system after starting the benchmark. It goes to the Progress tab and shows something like this....

Running 1/7: Pass 1/3 Video Transcoding. (That's not the exact line, but, close enough.)

I can sit there and watch that one line for 15 minutes and the progress never proceeds.

Then, if I move my mouse to Close the program, it locks up my system so that I have to resort to pressing the Reset button on my PC.

After all of this, I've decided to just uninstall this program.

I'm wondering if it's not Windows Media Encoder 9 related. or was it earlier versions that required it?
