DAMMIT - what`s wrong?

hi! now i really need your help.
my hardware is shit but i can`t do much about it (no cash).
i got all the latest drivers (except for the Win XP SP1 which i can`t install), i use pc accelerator.
i have:
CPU: AMD Athlon 1700 XP+
GPU: gf2 mx 400 64 Mb
Mobo: Gigabyte 7vrx rev 2.0
RAM: 256 Mb DDR 333 Mhz
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 40 Gb 7200 Rpm

i did 3dMark01 benchmark and got about 1300 pts.
then, i checked results on their on-line browser and found out the average score on same CPU and GPU is about 3000 pts.

what the hell?????
what`s the reason of this?
and how can i make it all work properly???

DMA Enabled? Anti-aliasing off? They carry out a lot of tweaks, like reducing the IQ and V-sync,so if games are running fine and looking good, there's no reason you should be TOO worried.

since you'v already installed XP I suggest to start with the basics
if you have XP pro/home start here use the "safe" settings first, then later you can do "games" or "supertweaks"

follow it by the lettre, and make sure you have a valid backup if some goes wrong.
and remember if anything goes wrong, the only one to blame is yourself

make a restore point would be easiest.

Are you sure it's not a GF2 MX200 you've got? - It's the kind of scaore you'd expect from the MX200, not the MX400.

If using 40+ drivers, you should be able to see the AGP mode in use (I'd say it should be 4x with that motherboard). "Fastwrites" may be enabled, but the jury's still out on which way that sends the scores - The 2MX does not support AGP sidebanding.
Try 64 or 128 for the AGP aperture in BIOS.

I'd pair DX9 capable drivers with DX9, and possibly an older driver with DX8 - regardless of the fact that the hardware is only DX7.
