Default Post My Benchmarks for 9800 pro 128 vs X800 Pro 256 VIVO

Just ran these last night. Tested the 9800 before taking it out and installing the new X800 Pro. It only has the 12 pipelines enabled right now, will work on that tonight and see if there is any improvement.

ATI 9800 Pro(no overclocking)
800x600
UT 2003:
Botmatch: 68.87
Flyby: 212

AquaMark3
1024x768
Score: 39,728
GFX: 5,550
CPU: 7,018

DOOM3
46.6 fps (don't know what resolution, I play the game in 800x600)

HALO
1024x768
42.95 Avg fps

3DMARK03
1024x768
Score: 5758

ATI Radeon X800 Pro 256MB VIVO

UT2003 Benchmark
800x600
Botmatch: 67.9
Flyby: 204.9

AquaMark3
1024x768
Score: 45,643
GFX: 6,753
CPU: 7,038

DOOM3
47.5 fps

HALO
1024x768
52.50 AVG fps

3DMARK03
9539

I was surprised to see a drop in performance on the UT2003 benchmark, and such a slight gain on some of the others, such as DOOM3. Is this normal, or is there something else I'm missing?

I would think that the UT2003 Flyby, which is is pretty independent from the CPU AFAIK, would go up quite a bit. Also, I would have expected Doom 3 to have gone up more, assuming of course that its running at the same settings.

Halo

UT2003
BotMatch: 68
Flyby: 205

Doom3
51.4 fps

3DMark2003

Everything but UT2003 improved. Halo especially. I think this has a lot more to do with what the software is able to use on the hardware in the case of UT2003. Is there a UT2004 Benchmark?

Answered my own question.
UT2004
800x600
Flyby: 193
Botmatch: 91

So, it looks like there is a difference. If you're using a newer card, your software needs to know how to use it!
