3dmark03/05 tweaks??? Also question about aquamark scores

I have been hearing about tweaks for these benchies? What are they/how do you implement them? I heard about like LOD something and some other interesting stuff that reduced image quality but 3dmark doesnt notice that. Anybody know? Please help me out. I have been trying to improve my scores. Also...what should be a good score for the system in my sig for aquamark? I am getting aroun 75k...is that high?PLEASE HELP

that would be cheating if you lowered image quality.just keep system clean of crap software and disable all unnessisary sevices and overclock your gpu,cpu and ram.keep it fair dude

dont know what that is.if it lowers image quality then it is just a hack or crack or cheat that is really not needed unless you are a cheat.

just tweak your system.this is why they are called benchmarks so everybody has a base to test from that is equal where you can compare scores.if you find a way to alter that foundation then it would not be equal and wouldnt be fair.these benchmarks are worthless anyhow cause the developers are bought off by the card makers already to enhance ability for a particular brand.most people i know just compare fps scores from fraps or ingame utillities on a mutual game with the same settings.

Yeah that IS cheating flat out. I just tweak my OS and make my own drivers and get decent scores and run everything at full detail. Makes no sence to me to lower detail just for better scores when first of all it does very little to the scores and also why do it just for a bunch of numbers. Its suppost to be a way to show others how fast your system is not how low quality it is.

Yea, I thought it is weird that the "norm" now for 3dmark's is to set everything to "performance", even though we all play on "high quality"..

That'd be sweet if 3dmark could force "high quality" on everyone, so the bench's might mean a little more

For benchies use start out with Win2k/2k3. head over to msfn.org and make an nLited copy of oneof them (2k for 3dmark 2k3 for hexfastpi and superpi), then install default drivers and tweak the living hell out of your os. Search the net for tweaks and in my computer properties under the device manager , under computer, change it from acpi uniprocessor to acpi mutliprocessor, this works your cpu harder and generates more heat, but it works great in mark01. Also, nothing is wrong with the LOD tweaks many people use them especially at the high level where some of the top orb guys are within points of each other. Cheats are when you use lower res, ps null, etc. which give huge advantages

I have to agree with some of the other posts. To make your screen a gray box in order to just get a high score is really cheating. The point is to see how a specific tune will perform in a real world test.

yes, tweaking your system to run benches faster is a difficult one. i like to think of it like this: a tweak I do because it helps games I play amd I use it (ie it doesnt impair visual quality noticably) then I'd use it. if its a tweak you only would think of for a benchmark but wouldnt use in game, then why bother, tis a little pointless imo. also some things are just good practice to get a reliable score: reboot before running the benchmark (clears the ram of all the crap built up), and diable any virus scanners (since I do this i also unplug my lan and hence my internet connection). obviously have a system free of spyware (run spybot/adaware/whatever regularly), defrag you HDD occasionally, all the usual
