squeezing every last mark out of 3dm2k1se

well guys, i've gotten up to 27.8k in 2001se, and i'd like to break 28k, but i don't know if i can.

i'm using the default settings for game stuff, and running it only on the games, my system is OC'ed from stock to 2.61ghz and 426ddr. my x850xt is running at 545/625, but i don't know what to do w/ AI.

any tips?

my god, you are one of the most negative people i know of...

if you must know, yes, it will make me feel better. when i first got this system i couldn't hit 25k, then i beat it and set my eyes on 26, i got 26 and made it past 27. now that i've done that i'd like to hit 28.

yes, they are just numbers, but i want to push my baby to the limit, i want to be able to break every barrier i set, and having a limit only 130 points away from my current top score is too close...i want to break 28k.

haven't you ever done something when there wasn't a real reason to do it?

I've scored 27000 with my x800 pro and am looking to get that around 30000 soon. My suggestions: keep few extra programs running, use omega 2612, try AI on high, overclock that 3500 more, use 1T command rate for ram if possible.

eh, my 3500 isn't even quite stable at 2.6ghz. i'm running w/ stock cooling, and my voltage is 1.62, so i don't want to push it much higher.

as for my ram, i'm amazed i've got it clocked where it is right now. it's corsair value select and it's running 2.5-3-3-6, i can run it 2-3-3-7 as well, i haven't decided which to use.

i'll try using the omegas, but i may just format rather than run drivercleaner and all that again, so i may have to wait a while.

it's your athlon xp that's holding you back. i had the same problem w/ my old athlon system, i couldn't beat 17k w/ a x800xt, and i couldn't beat 15 w/ a 9800pro.

if you upgrade to a 64bit processor then you'll probably be pushing 20k.

With that motherboard, psu, and winchester, you should easily be able to pull a 400-500 mhz clock stock cooling. I'd put that ram in a divider, run at 2-3-3-7, and get the processor up. 1.6+ V is pretty excessive just for 400 mhz oc. Since winchester stock is 1.4V, you should be able to get that up there at ~1.5V.

im sure if he OC'ed the XP higher it would be fine. With my XP i can break 20K with a 9700PRO.

hmm...that may be because your multipliers were unlocked w/ the xp-m chip. w/ my 2800+ OC'ed to 2.32Ghz i couldn't break 20k w/ my x800

CrapolaJola is on a distinguished road

go dl win2k, use ricky tweak (go2 device manager and change your computer from acpi uniprocessor to mpc multi, seems wierd but it actually works), do win2k tweaks (if u really want the most use nLite on your win2k cd), and fix the ram timing o nyour x850xt. While x850xt put out bigger numbers x800xt put out way bigger 3dmark scores in 01 cuz of the ram timings, try tightenign them up a bit you might lose a few mhz, but its worth it. Also I forget the order, but if you run the tests in a certain order it helps (ill post later) and generally it's a good idea to re-run car low a few times to get a big number out of one of the benches.

i agree with crapolajola for most parts, except chancing the ACPI to multiprocessor didn't work for me... just made things worse.

Well AMD trounces P4 in games so it's normal I guess. Plus the 3D card won't make much of a diff because I mean, HOW old is it 3dmark tech wise? DX6-7-8?

what if you have a USB mouse and keyboard

for sure disable onboard sound, and unplug your system's ethernet cable.

then how would i upload my results?

unless you mean just to unplug them, not to disable them in bios.

i've got my system OC'ed further than what it was when i hit my score of 27.8k, but i'm only getting 27.6, i think i may have to format, either that or the tweak guide i found on dfi-street actually worked...hmm, tomorrow night i'll have to go through and redo that guide.

what do you guys think, fastwrites on or off?
