My 3DMark score, have a laugh why don't you.
Well I've seen a lot of talk of 3DMarks recently, and until now I've restrained from running one myself... because I knew it'd be bad.
But well I did anyway. 2,802 I'm utterly ashamed ![]() http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=5410320 check it out, have a laugh at my expense ![]() craig5320

Don't worry man - my monstrous AXP system, with 320gb of storage, 512mb of ram, and a brand-name video card, pulls around 3500 fully overclocked, 2500 not. I don't have compare links because I never felt like it was worth having up... it angers me so much when people with geforce 4's (like one of my friends) whine when they say that they can't break 10k 3dmarks in 1600x1200... I'm lucky if I can get menus to show up in 1600x1200, much less real 3d graphix. Even old quake 2 stuffs (counterstrike anyone?) hit around 20fps at that resolution, and they are missing out on 150fps... damn... I really need a new video card...

Vid card is a GF2 GTS 32mb, but its not a real GTS, its some wierd gts-v variant that's underclocked and has very little overclocking room on the GPU - I just call it a GF2MX to avoid confusion, but its an underclocked GF2GTS...

Bubble's with a Voodoo3
Bubble's with a 64MB GF2 MX400 (240/420) Blue with 32MB radeon 7200 183/183 I had a GTS-V too for a while, but I passed it on to a friend and kept the GF2 MX400....the MX400 was the better card! (It's a sweet MX400, abit siluro. )Your score isn't that shabby, it's about what I started this year with as me best. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT THE NEXT YEAR WILL BRING!!!!!! ![]() EDITED BITS: BTW-I'm on a 56K too, you have me sympathies. If it's any consolation I've been finding there ain't a whole lot you can't do with a 56K that you can do with a T3, it just takes a bit longer.

As promised, here's my score....3709
Im chuffed to bits My scores better than Craigs he he BTW Dig, it looks like you were wrong to swap your GTS for an MX400 cos if you compare mine and Craigs scores the GTS is obviously the better card

Don't try and teach your grandpa how to skin cats! Do you seriously think I just chose the MX400 over the GTS-V on a whim? This is me we're talking about, I threw those puppies through the grinder to decide 'tween 'em! The GTS-V did bench about 20 points higher in 3dm2k1, but it wasn't as solid feeling about it and doesn't have half as nice a 2D as my MX400. (Not to mention the MX400 is really a T400, an MX400 w/tv-out. )Seriously, I kept the better card. I know a GF2 GTS is normally a better card than a GF2 MX400, but a no-name GF2 GTS-V wasn't better than me Abit Siluro T400. It just wasn't.

Buy a new video card
pik up a Geforce 4200 Ti for about $140 and you'll about triple if not quadriple your score... your video card is your weak link there

Craig has a faster CPU than me (1404 v's 1276)....more memory (512mb v's 384mb) yet his score was a massive 907 points lower than mine which in my 'humble' opinion, 'grandpa', is purely down to my GTS ( an Asus BTW) |

Here's my best GF2GTS score. I threw it back in during my Ti4600 review and decided to see if I could break 5k. Almost did, I'm sure it will blow past that mark with the 40.xx series. But I don't have the card anymore.

The thing that is starting to bother me now is that I used to have a normal GTS in my system (64mb, oced very nicely, went to 245/420 with stock cooling, no ramsinks), but I built a computer for my grandfather who was still insisting that his 486 was good enough for everything but calculating the sun, and what I found to my dismay was that though the GTS-V worked in my AXP system, and the GTS 64mb worked in my AXP system, only the GTS 64mb would work in the system I had for my grandpa (a dell from an old friend that I fixed up, so it wasn't like I had a warranty to fall back on to get it fixed.) Make a long story short, my grandpa's 733pIII benches around the same 3dmarks as my 1.7ghz AXP system...
EDIT: oh ya, with everything oc'ed out, I was hitting a sweet 5000-5500 3dmarks with my old card... but now I'm down to 3500... New card time is here with Christmas methinks... EDIT EDIT: Found one of my few posted compare scores - I normally don't upload them to the ORB because I haven't ever seen a real need or reason to... http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=2604687

Don't make the same mistake I did this March - I got one of these GF4MX piece of $hit thingies (and even paid $80 for it! )With an 1200 Amd TB, I had problems to hit even lousy 4k ![]() I then upgraded to an Amd XP 2000+ and got only around 4600 ![]() So I eventually got even more pissed than I already was at this bull$hit card (if that was even possible), and at the first possible opportunity that I had enough money (September), I got myself an Ati Radeon 8500 (275/550, no LE) from HIS for measly $65 (incl. tax). Guess what? My score doubled to about 9000 points! (no o/c - I've seen guys which got easily 10k with o/c and also Amd XP 2000+)Clearly makes a difference, doesn't it? So, taking a look at the "Scan" shop, I'd recommend you the following cards: If you only have a small budget, get this one. Not quite as expensive or performant as the 8500, but still easily kicks the ass of a GF4MX: LN4220 64Mb ATI Radeon 9000 Pro Retail DVI/TV Out - Ex. Vat 61.00 / Inc. Vat 71.68 If you can shell out some more cash, get an 9500 - clearly kicks the as of even a Geforce 4 4200 and is a full-fledged DirectX 9 card! (much unlike anything from nvdidia until now). Also supports 8x AGP! Ok, 8xAGP is also avaiable for some nVidia cards, but only for an ungodly sum, and the tiny improvement over 4xAGP clearly isn't worth that much more money. LN4630 64Mb ATI Radeon 9500 Retail DDR/DVI/TV Out - Ex. Vat 109.00 / Inc. Vat 128.08 Of course, if you have still more money to burn, you can also get an Ati Radeon 9700/9700 Pro. Both cards clearly wipe the floor with any nVidia card that is currently avaiable ![]() So if you want to be the King, get one of these! |
