x800 pro Hows this?

Ok just did some benches using ATI 5.8 driver (standard)

Getting

Aquamark : 63,373
3dmark 03 : 10502
3dmark 05: 5206

With my specs in the signature how is this?

Beats my x800xl which is probably screwed up.

he does have a newer CPU. although 3Dmark03/05 are not very CPU dependant, CPU is still a factor in the benchmarks

no OC at all actaully

and that is using the onboard SATA control on the mb... wonder if a card SATA controller would help.

LOL so i decide to OC my card ... I got it stable to 525hz core from 475 and 550 mhz from 450!!!

Used ATI tray tool for 1 hours each side then 30 minute with both setting set.

Only got me 5510 on 3dmark05 though,,,, thought i would get atleast a 20% increase but 10 is nice.

Yeah 03's first test is heavily CPU dependent and that can run up the final score quite a bit. When comparing 05 scores I have seen that the CPU/system does have quite an affect on scores too- especially when comparing the the exact card with the exact same clock..

I would like some links to those benchies please so I can compare.. after all the XL has 16 pipes and the pro has 12.. but the pro has higher clocks.

I think if I got a faster CPU I could get my scores up quite a bit actually. Only so much you can do with AGP though.

Nice!scores for your setup

(3dmark03 kinda "sucks" with out going into detail it wasn't a verry good bechmark
for doing system compairsions. 3dmark01 & 05 are fine though)

A newer P4 or AMD64 setup would give you alot better scores that XP cpus
holding you back. I was suprized at a jump up when I went up from my 2500+
@ 3200+ to a 2800+ AMD64+ I figured it would of went down due to the Mhz
loss...I was wrong

a new CPU & mother board would love you long time!

Yeah definitely... Before my 9700pro was the bottleneck.. Now with the X800XL, my system (CPU/MOBO) is the bottleneck.. My memory can go as lot faster though.. it would be ok in a new mobo I think.. OCZ 3200 platinum EL limited edition.. B6 chips on one and C5 I think on the other.. Anyway it is the same memory that they got up to 253mhz at 2-2-2-5 with 3.3 volts. (but I will probably need to get 2x 1gig sticks then anyway)

Well I know what my next upgrade will be.. the fastest AGP system I can build.
Then after that I will have no choice but to build an entirely new rig and go PCI-E.. right now I don't have the $$ to do it all at once though, so stuck with AGP for now.

if you had one of my work's branches nearby, you would be able to pick up an A64 3200 and AGP MoBo for $200 + tax

. Your memory will still be fine, you have a good gfx card. Look around for some good deals on a pretty decent hardware that won't break the bank

. like your x800xl for example

. but i'm pretty sure that you are aware of all this already and have other things to worry/deal with limiting you on purchasing new toys.
