Freedom is a feature.

No MIDI Device selected in 3529 by default
In windows control panel\Sounds and audio devices in Windows XP SP1.
kX UART(or 2, can't remember) was selected by default (after installation) before. Now it is left empty. Can you make it kX Synth to be selected by default after installation?

Quick time doesn't see recording device, Windows can't play system sounds.

seems this problem is not kX related, I have it now too (with 3534f) AFTER months of using the same driver with no problems.
hm, seems Windows issue, but anyway - did you find some solution then? the problem is that when I select default MIDI playback device (or Voice playback) the settings are not saved (after apply and ok) which is VERY strange indeed... other settings are saved, but these - not. |

Any new hardware/software creating a driver conflict maybe? A system file became corrupt? |

as you can see - RIV@NVX has the same problem, as few others here:
http://www.ozzu.com/ftopic40517-15.html (look at the "7NA C.O." post) this is very strange, indeed. except that - windows behavior is rock solid, hm. |

I have read about similair problems caused by system clean-up with Spyware Doctor or other spyware cleaners (deleting a registry key that should not be deleted or something). In any case, many people were able to resolve the issue by installing the K-Lite Codec Pack, and then going to Start > Programs > K-Lite Codec Pack > Configuration > Codec Tweak Tool and check the box next to [Registry] Fix non-working system sound. Maybe give it a try and see if it works for you...

BTW: iirc, it was the standard pack that was mentioned (I see that there are 3 different one's, and I am not sure if it makes a difference), so that is the one you would probably want.

K-lite Codec Pack
Hi guys!
I have the same problem with system sounds (everything works except system sounds). Suddenly I found this page and wanna give it a try. So, what version of K-lite Codec Pack is better to use - Standard, or Full? Thanks, Hejsan |

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32] "midimapper"="midimap.dll" "wavemapper"="msacm32.drv" "aux"="wdmaud.drv" "wdmaud.drv"="wdmaud.drv" "wave"="wdmaud.drv" "mixer"="wdmaud.drv" "midi"="wdmaud.drv" The above appears to be what the fix from the codec pack does, so the codec pack should not be needed. -Russ |

Been fighting this problem all day and was about to poke a screwdriver through the mother board :-), but didn't think that was the problem.
Did the .reg fix and off it went. Thanks so much! Is there anything you can't fix with the internet and its users :-) ? |
