Hello people
Congrulations for this great job I noticed three issues with the latest version that Im not sure if they were bugs or just natural phenomenons : ] First: in Cubase sx and nuendo VST outs 4/5 and 6/7 seems replaced in driver version 3529. I mean untill version 3529 I could use vst out 4/5 for front; 6/7 for rear and 8/9 for centre/sub normally, but now in 3529 I have to use VST outputs 8/9 to listen from rear speakers and 6/7 for centre/sub... Why is that? Second: Front rear swap option in master mixer panel only swaps internal signals of the system like wave or midi but it doesnt swap the signals from mic or line inputs. As a result if I use SWAPPED settings I hear audio from Cubase etc from original rear (black colored out). If I want to record from line input into cubase via selecting this line-in in AC97 record puldown menu and also want to listen/monitor mic or CD inputs via unmuting them in AC97 panel I hear selected record input from original rear (black one) and else (unmuted cd or mic) from original front (green)... Thus the only way to listen all audio from one pair of speakers (original front in this condition) is to disable swaping (using original front as front). Why that swap option doesn't swap all audio (all inputs) from front to rear or vice versa? Is this a usual case or an issue that I experienced here only? Three: When I disconnect the AC97 left and right connections from prolog to routing and not connected else where (i.e. not connected to asio inputs of epilog for asio recording in cubase) I still can hear all audio from all inputs of AC97 like mic1 line in cd in and wave audio etc. Isn't that a bit of weird? I mean I expect not to hear anything depends on AC97 part of the board... 1. This is kinda mistake of 29. I hope it will be corrected in 30.
2. Unmuting anything on ac97 page is just incorrect way. Generally (untill you need something special - and that's what that faders are there for) the only things you should use is "source" of ac97 and "ac97" faders on "ins'n'outs" and "recording" pages... When you unmute any of ac97 inputs they just directly go to ac97 output (e.g. "front") (and therefore cannot not be affected by any of dsp settings like "swap", routings etc.). 3. see 2. /max p.s. and why use "analog cd in"? - connect your cdrom either digitally or enable "digital cd playback" setting of the windows (so that windows will just grab data from cd via ide cable and play it like plain wave file). >from all inputs of AC97 like mic1 line in cd in and wave audio etc - "wave audio" is not input of ac97.

Many thanks for your immediate reply : ]
Maybe I have to give more details to explain why I unmute the line-in of AC97. Here is the exact situation : ] I use a midi keyboard (a Roland) to record midi data into cubase, thus I use this keyboard as midi input device in related channel of cubase (lets say midi channel 1) and I want to use same keyboard as midi out device (through midi uart out) because I prefer its sounds instead of soundfonts or any software synth. I connected this Roland's line outs to SBlive's line in to hear what I play (of course I can use headphones etc but that's not the point here). If I want to record and/or listen midi data while recording audio via mic input simultanously I have to select mic from pulldown rec source of AC97 for audio and unmuting the mute button under line-in volume slider in AC97 panel to listen line in (that Roland) at the same time Everythings OK till now. But if I want to hear all audio from one pair of speakers (rear ones) because of the related output's superior audio quality?? Errr do I ask for too much ? Can u recommend me a solution to use REAR (black) outputs to listen both line-input (monitor only) and mic-input (record and monitor) simultanously? Or is this technically impossible? Best regards |

Or is this technically impossible? - yep, impossible... in that situation you should use "front" out as main and turn "swap" off...
(and "rear" dac quality is not important in that situation... just because: 1. the bad quality of line/mic ins of AC97 masks i2S dac quality.. 2. When you monitor ac97 inputs with ac97 output itself there's no ADC/DAC conversion perfomed to what you hear (all is done in analog...))
