errors in sound when typing
when i type really fast or just hold down a letter for typing i get what seem to be random clicks and pops and such in the sound. This happened with the creative drivers, but it was much more frequent and sounded much worse with them. Any idea what this could be?

I have the same annoying problem!!! Just try this: hold down Shift and start moving your mouse around the screen. Not only the sound will crackle, but mouse motion will lag as well! My configuration:
ASUS A7N8X Athlon XP (Barton) 2500+ 1 GB RAM @ 400 MHz SB Live! with latest kx drivers Windows XP Professional + SP1 (I had the same problem under Windows 2000) |

your keyboard is connected via usb, isn't it?
if yes, there's probably a PCI IRQ conflict -- try connecting the keyboard via regular ps/2 connector /E |

No, it's on a ps/2 port, and the problem seems to be ocassional. Reboot solves the problem but it can occur again at any time. Weird...

A little late post, but what the heck.
I had the exakt same problem. I did use to have a USB keyboard and had no problems with the sound back then. Then I spilled some coffee over it and it didn't work, so I had to use my super old DIN plug keyboard. (I did find the DIN > PS2 konverter ) Anyway...ever since the problems with sound have occured. And I tried holding down a button when playing music at the same time and it popped and clicked like insane. I switched PCI a few time and it seems that PCI slot 2 is the slot where the clicks and pops occur least. It's still there, although not very often and not as loud and annoying as before. |

hmm… i'm not sure what the explanation for this can be… it's possible that wireless keyboards may cause EMI, but as for wired keyboards… i remember seeing something about a reason for this, mayb a search of the forum would help… the audio technical forum on DH may have something…

As I see, we all have the same problem, and the same chipset, the NForce2... maybe the problem are not the KX or the SB Live, but the Nforce....
