exclamation Settings not restored after reload

Specs:

Windows 2003 Enterprise Server
Audigy 2 Platinum
kX 3533
P4 1700, ASUS P4T, 512 MB RAMBUS

Hello,

whenever I reboot, the kX driver does not restore my last setting in this area:

- Buffer Settings
- Effects - 10 Band EQ
- kX Mixer: AC97, Record, Input/Output, Master

Would be really nice if the settings in the sections above would automatically be saved before reboot and loaded afterwards !

the settings should save/restore automatically
if they don't:
1. make sure kx mixer is loaded on start up and displays 'restoring settings' message box
2. reset your settings via 'kxmixer'; make any desired changes; reboot

Well hmmm

Eugene,

I've set up kX Driver on another PC, too.

The 2nd PC runs Windows 2003 Enterprise Server, too, Creative SB 1024 Value with Creative Drivers installed before.
Same problem with kX now: If I save the Settings (Config + Presets) they didn't get restored after reboot.

Also on Windows-startup I don't get a >>restoring settings' message box<<, I've never seen this message box since I go with kX for some time.

Maybe it's a problem with Windows 2003 compatability (ie. Outpost and Panasonic DVD-RAM drvivers don't work with Win2003, but they do with WinXP).

'restoring settings' should be displayed on the task bar when the 'kX' logo is shown --
does kX mixer load on start up automatically?

>> If I save the Settings (Config + Presets) they didn't get restored after reboot

what exactly do you mean?
if you -save- any settings, they are NOT supposed to be restored unless you 'load' them manually;
kX Mixer, however, saves -ALL- the settings on shutdown/reboot and restores them on start up

Don't see this on my two PC's. I can enable the "Statup logo enabled" in kX to see a logo show up on start, but it does not say "restore settings" or so-

>>>does kX mixer load on start up automatically?

Yes, from the Autostart folder using a shortcut to : C:\WINDOWS\system32\kxmixer.exe

>>if you -save- any settings, they are NOT supposed to be restored unless you 'load' them manually;

OK, then we both understood the word "restore & load" differently

When I save my settings, they get *restored* fine. Thats correct.
What does not happen is that my last used settings do not get *loaded* after reboot. That's what you've made clear now.

So my problem is that I wish the kX would automatically *load* the last settings I used after reboot.

For example I've made a custom preset using the 10 Band EQ for my Headset.
When I reboot I wish to have my "Headset settings" loaded automatically.

I see no reason from the user perspective why I alwasy should waste some time and load my settings manually after every reboot.
Maybe a new option in kX would be helpful to allow automatic load of last setting or not.

Hope now it's clear what I've meant

the kxmixer should be started from the registry ('Run' section), not from 'autostart' folder
in order to restore settings on start-up, it should be called with '--startup' option

try resetting global settings and check the following registry key:
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\curr entversion\run\kx Mixer
it should contain 'kxmixer.exe --startup'

The same problem here...

My specs:

Windows 2000 Pro SP3
SB Audigy 2
kX 3533b

I also want to preserve my DSP settings (especially Surrounder). But kX always sets back to defaults after rebooting. Already tried the 'Reset Global Settings' - it does not help. 'kxmixer.exe --startup' is loaded via registry. (BTW, the uninstaller doesn't work properly, hm? After rebooting and reinstalling kX remembers settings like 'Don't Show Logo')

OK, the curious thing is that the Surrounder recall works on the system of my friend. His specs:

Windows XP Pro SP1
SB Live! Player
kX 3533b

On his machine I used 'Reset Global Settings' once and now everything works fine for him... So, could it be an Audigy2 problem or something with Windows 200X?

check the following:

reboot
tweak surrounder settings
quit kxmixer
re-run kxmixer [w/o any parameters]
are the settings restored?
now, quit kxmixer again
run it with '--startup' option
are the settings restored?

Yes! Great, now it works perfect. Even after reboot. Thank you!
