If you're using Windows 2000, please read
Windows 2000 by default re-updates the security policy every one boot per day and when this occurs, expect KXMixer to give the error message about the sound driver failing and telling you to reinstall the driver!
The workaround: If you shutted down and boot Windows 2000 for the first time of the new day, when you're at the login screen, reboot by choosing the shut down pull down menu and choose "Restart. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This bug is strange and ONLY occurs with Windows 2000. |

Which version of KX? Because I've never had that happen and have several win2K machines with KX drivers.

Win2K support stopped at 3538, supposedly 3839 but it had install issues with 2000. I've used up to 3538m without this issue. I have 3537 on this machine with 2000 SP4 and 3538m on another machine with 2000 SP4 also and neither of them do this.... pretty stable for me. I haven't tried anything past that on a 2000 machine though just because it's not supported past that point.
If you found a workaround it's a moot point but What SP are you running?
