I installed the kx drivers ( the version before the beta, sorry but I'm not at home and don't remember the version #) and then rebooted. After the windows desktop appears - without icons- a blue screen comes up that says the following:
Invalid VxD dynamic link call from VSYNTHD (01)+002DDD7FC to device "3A72" service 1. Your Windows configuration is invalid. Run the windows setup program again to correct this problem. Windows will not load. I've tried deleting the kx drivers and rinstalling the Creative SB drivers from the original CD but I cannot access my cd-rom drive. I went into command mode and still cannot run the CD using dos commands. What's going on?? Any help is greatly appreciated! |

VxD drivers aren't compatible with WDM drivers
you should remove them in order to use kX in order to boot delete or rename vsynthd.vxd (probably, Seer Reality, WaveSynth or ReMixer driver) /Eugene |

I had the same problem last night and took me 3 hours to figure a way out of this - may only take you minutes:
Reboot holding down ctrl key, then select windows start option with step by step option for loading of drivers etc. say no to everything except the absolute essential (what that is depends on your specific PC, but mouse drivers etc you should load for convenience). Once windows is up in safe mode, backup the registry files (hidden 'user.dat' and 'system.dat' The open registry editor and search for 'kX' and delete any references to it that can clearly be linked to the kX drivers. close regedit and reboot. This should get you back in the game although with a broken kX installation. So now it's necessary to follow the hint in the previous post regarding the vsynthd driver and get rid of the application that needs this one. Then reinstalling kX and with a little luck ... Addendum: I would be grateful for any tips how to proceed when it is found that there is no 'vsynthd.vxd' on this computer ???? Last edited by BeeJay; Aug 27, 2003 at 10:34 AM. |
