3534a - Bug Report
Previous Driver - 3533 final
Install 3534a, Install works perfect Wave Driver works fine Launch Cubase, Cubase opens Make New Project, then Cubase error - "Samplerate could not be set. This may be due to the sampleclock being set to external sync." Click ok, go into the cubase device setup/VST Multitrack page. Page defaults to DirectX driver. When you try to change the driver to KXasio, it wont accept the change and continues to default to the directX driver. Quit Cubase. Reinstall 3533. Launch cubase. Make New project. New project opens fine with kx asio driver enabled. installed and de-installed 3534 2 times. Same situation. 3 Questions Eugene: Would it be possible to get the saved kx settings files, to be accepted in the new versions, for instance, or to at least accept the kxDSP routings? It would be great if the new drivers could be updated to the previous drivers settings, and the new implementations would just stay set to default. I created a nice KX routing for acid, whereby I can have the line input Recording in on Left, A Standalone softsynth set to record Right, and a series of drumloops playing back thru KXwave driver 6/7, with the drumloops audible but not being recorded - 6/7kxwave seems to have reverb leakage audibly. KX wave 0/1 and 4/5 are clean signals with no reverb leakage, but both cause the drum loops to be recorded thru KXwave input 0/1, whereas 4/5 doesnt record onto the track. Is there a routing Im not aware of that would allow me to achieve the input scheme listed above, but using 4/5 or with no reverb on 6/7? Lastly, In order to achieve the about routing, the standalone softsynth is set to KXasio and Acid is set to KX Wave 6/7. There is a new buffers settings panel in the latest version of acid, and on my system, it seems the minimum latency is achieved by setting the buffers to 512k/5 buffers. But there still is some noticable latency when you listen back to what you recorded against the drum loops you played to. Is there a way to somehow get the settings to have the minimum latency, without guessing thru trial and error by changing the buffers? An accurate means for achieving the minimal latency or no latency at all? |

so, the correct sequence:
start cubase "Samplerate could not be set" -- answer "NO" open kX ASIO window -> select 44100 you should get 'Sampling rate set to 44100' if cubase refuses to set kX ASIO driver, open ASIO Control Panel (via kX Mixer - Settings) and set sampling rate to 48000 and buffer size to 20ms /E |

3435a bug report Continued Rev 1.1
Test Evaluation by Dawkorn.....
Open Cubase "Samplerate could not be set" -- answer "NO" There is no Yes or no - only OK open kxmixer/ kX ASIO window -> select 44100 you should get 'Sampling rate set to 44100' =======Yes, that works if cubase refuses to set kX ASIO driver, open ASIO Control Panel (via kX Mixer - Settings) and set sampling rate to 48000 and buffer size to 20ms ---------------> after changing the kxasio driver from the KX mixer to 44k, then opening cubase, it then allows you to open a new project, but you get the message "Record could not be enabled, because there is no input. Open the input window and enable the desired input". Ok Twice to that message. go into device setup. Vst multitrack has kxasio activated. its set by default to 48k, not to 44.1k, even though it was reset to 44.1k in the kxasio mixer panel previously prior to cubase opening. reset device setup/vstmultitrack/kxasio driver to 44.1k. Go into Cubase / devices/ vst inputs - error message "no Inputs!" back into device setup, vstmultitrack/kxasio/ it defaults again to 48k. close windows, go back into project, vst input screen now shows inputs. Test Recording. Recording works. Evaluation - Current Bug - in order to get the 3534 driver to work with cubase, every time you use cubase, you have to go first into the kxmixer and change it to 44.1k, which only allows it to work for the duration of that session while cubase is open, and it doesnt run at 44.1 but seems to default to 48k each time. |

so, let's clarify my prev. posting
![]() --- for instance, I've done it this way: open kXmixer->settings->Asio Control Panel : choose 48000 & click OK [to be sure settings are OK] launch Cubase it says 'sample rate doesn't match. set?' -> NO (obligatory!) options->audio->system->asio control panel->44100 & OK 'the sampling rate has changed to 44100' save the new project or 'def.all' (if necessary) if you open an exisiting 48000/44100 project, make sure you answer 'No' and change the sampling rate manually via kX ASIO Control Panel window (launched via Cubase, not kX Mixer -- use kX Mixer's window only if you cannot start-up Cubase) >> Record could not be enabled this is expected, because there's no recording possible when in 44100 mode [a hardware limitation] so, the main points: * do never change sampling rate via Cubase, but via kX ASIO Control Panel only * recording is disabled in 44100 mode * if anything fails, Cubase switches the drivers and (or) sampling rates w/o notice /Eugene P.S. I know all this sounds tricky. That's why I haven't implemented this stuff for one year

The Cubase problems Ive stated in above posts are occuring using Cubase SX 1.051, not the previous versions of Cubase VST32.
It sounds as if the error messages im getting are different from the ones you are seeing in your version. Nonetheless, if I cant record using 44k, then the only reason i can think of to use the 44k option would be to play older projects done at 44k without resampling the files, right? Eugene, when you have time could you give me a brief on the below questions? Would it be possible to get the saved kx settings files, to be accepted in the new versions, for instance, or to at least accept the kxDSP routings? It would be great if the new drivers could be updated to the previous drivers settings, and the new implementations would just stay set to default. you should save your config with 'version independent' flag set btw, since 3533 the setup program asks whether you wish to conserve the settings /E |

Eugene,
The method youve posted in your last few replies does not work on my system. Hope this helps. What i get is thus: open kXmixer->settings->Asio Control Panel : choose 48000 & click OK [to be sure settings are OK] launch Cubase it says 'sample rate doesn't match. set?' -> NO (obligatory!) -----> No, its says " No Asio driver error" Click OK options->audio->system->asio control panel->44100 & OK 'the sampling rate has changed to 44100' save the new project or 'def.all' (if necessary) ------> Now my 48k projects are playing at 44k, slowed down I then try to change it back to 48k under options->audio->system->asio control panel-> asio driver dissappears, defaults to directx Driver, unable to access asio driver until its re-set to 44k in the kx mixer |

Same problem. I can't play back anymore my 48kHz song with Cubase SX. The trick given my McDeath (Revert to 44.1 in kxAsio -not in cubase- then select 48kHz in kxAsio under Cubase don't work anymore). Reverting to 3533b for the moment... Sorry.

it seems that cubase sx doesn't wish to handle realtime sampling rate changes...
perhaps, its better either to keep always using 48000 freq, or downgrade to Cubase 5.0 /E p.s. don't forget to re-set your def.all [probably by deleting it] and kX ASIO Control Panel settings via kX Mixer |

cubase files are now .cpr files, no longer .all
Ive reset the kxmixer setting - no change The cubase files i used are template files I created, not the original default.cpr files seems to me the issue is of importance for cubase sx users, perhaps there is a fix? Im gonna try loading the 3534a drivers one more time to test them again redundantly, but I think its to no avail until this issue is addressed. Cubase SX latest release of June 13 2003 is 1.06, so many bugs have been fixed, which is great. I think for cubase sx users this is an important issue. Also Eugene, if at 44k you cant record, only play back, what would the practical use be? Thanks for your response! |

I've posted a question concerning this issue and some users replied 'yes, we need that 44100 anyway' ![]() that's it /E |

Asio-problem with logic and 44100
hello fantastic guys, here is my bugreport.
Bug Report 3534a ASIO with 44100 everything is working well in wavelab everything is working well in FruityLoops everything is working well in Traktor DJ Studio 2 everything is working well in Vienna2.3 but there is a big problem in Logic Platinum 5.5.0, after switching to 44100. at first, i swithed to 44100, then i start logic. after starting, in logig 44100 is standard, i have a look into the driverpanel and by "Max. I/O Streams: In" is only "max" by "Out" is the same like before, from "max" and "2" to "16" is all aviable. i can use midi and hear the instrument. but when i go to audio or audioinstrument, logic is reporting, there is a error and logic closes. with 48000 there are 2 in and 2 out and logic is working well. ---------------------------------------------------- Aktuelles Skin: Mackie Skin Skin Autor: Chris McCartney ----Hardware / Software configuration--------------- Treiber Name:kX Audio Driver (Debug) Treiber Datum: Jun 16 2003 00:12:54 Treiber Version: 5.10.00.3534 - debug DB Name:LiveBay2 SB0092 10k2 [e000] PCI Information: Device: 41102 Subsys: 531102 ChipRev: 3 Karte ist '10k2' Card has MPU device Kartenmodel ist '5.1' Card HAS AC97 codec Codec name: TriTech TR A5/CT1297 TAT 3D Extension: No 3D Stereo Enhancement Codec is 1.0 compliant Capabilities[0] : DAC resolutions : -16-bit- ADC resolutions : -16-bit- Ext Capabilities [0]: Port: e000 Irq: f Playback buffer: 20a0 Record buffer: 2000 Number of AC3 buffers: 4 Tank memory: 256 kb GSIF buffer: 512 samples OS version: [2 5 0 Service Pack 3; 2 5 0 Service Pack 3; 156 148] ---------------------------------------------------- ----Hardware / Software configuration--------------- Treiber Name:kX Audio Driver (Debug) Treiber Datum: Jun 16 2003 00:12:54 Treiber Version: 5.10.00.3534 - debug DB Name:none CT4670 10k1 [d800] PCI Information: Device: 21102 Subsys: 201102 ChipRev: 4 Card has MPU device Card HAS AC97 codec Codec name: TriTech TR28023/CT1297 3D Extension: No 3D Stereo Enhancement Codec is 1.0 compliant Capabilities[0] : DAC resolutions : -16-bit- ADC resolutions : -16-bit- Ext Capabilities [0]: Port: d800 Irq: 11 Playback buffer: 20a0 Record buffer: 4000 Number of AC3 buffers: 4 Tank memory: 256 kb GSIF buffer: 512 samples OS version: [2 5 0 Service Pack 3; 2 5 0 Service Pack 3; 156 148] ---------------------------------------------------- hope, you can fix it, regards, gerald
