Re: 3548 bug reports - X86 ONLY

There is a problem with ASIO driver:
Selecting ASIO Control Panel from systray menu does nothing.
Applications cannot see kxASIO.

Maybe it's installer problem. There is new kxasio.dll in 3548 folder, but nothing about kxasio in registry under HKLM/ASIO.

My system is Vista x86.

Re: 3548 bug reports - X86 ONLY

I registered kxasio.dll manually ( regsvr32 kxasio.dll )
It works great now

A: That's really vague, nice demand for a solution for a free product.

B: Do you have more than 2gb of ram? http://www.hardwareheaven.com/bug-repo...-more-ram.html (Don't post in it)

Yes, I have 4gb and sound card works perfect on Vista sp2 x86 with 4gb ram. So why can't it work on Windows 7 x86 with 4gb ram? Will it work without Scratchy sound on Windows 7 x64 if I install it?

The problem is fairly random - it depends on how the driver is loaded into memory.

It seems, from general experience, that it is much more likely to happen in 7 than in vista, for yet unexplained reasons. I use Vista x64 with 8gb of ram just fine, and used XPx86 but it fails in 7 for me.

Hopefully E. will find a way to make it work soon. For now, stick to vista if you need it - or the ram - that much.

guys, please confirm the following issues:

1. asio driver not registered after install
2. kxmixer does not start automatically
===

"SPDIF output,It can not adjust volume" - this is expected. choose Master Mixer
"wrong device selected as default" - known issue with Vista/Win7

Re: 3548 bug reports - X86 ONLY

Depending on where a plugin is located, registering the plugin will use the short file name or the long file name (one factor appears to be whether or not the path + file name includes any spaces). IIRC, kX always used long file names in previous versions.

This could be a problem for anything that uses the info returned by GetModuleFileName, etc.

BTW: This is with WinXP (if it makes a difference).

[EDIT]
This is happening in other areas of kX as well.
e.g.
If I edit a .DA file (from disk) with kX Editor, when I go to save changes, it wants to use the short file name.
[/EDIT]

Also there is this issue, which seems to be related:
3548: kX Console menu item not working

SB0220 installed as kX 10k1 (3548) Generic
first PCI slot at p35 with 2gb and XP SP3, all seems to be OK.

previous kX driver versions has right card id, but not the current...

got "error: invalid plugin library" with:
asynth.kxl drumsynth.kxl organ.kxl ProFX.kxl ufx.kxl

(clean uninstall and full driver package install doesn't helps)

clicking on: kxefx.kxs kxTimeBalanceV2B.kxs kxTimeBalanceV2A.kxs
causes dissapering of all sliders in kxmixer and weird surronder and same peak plugin interface
can be fixed by clicking on default skin kxskin.kxs ... lol ...

Re: 3548 bug reports - X86 ONLY

Audigy 2 Zs SB0350 On Win Xp Pro Sp3

2 issues :
1.i tried it basically because of the asio hibernating issue
in 3545b when i hibernated with console/audiomulch i would have to restart the audio output ( power on console / enable audio on audiomulch )
there would be no sound till i restarted the audio output

3548 works but not good
instead of no sound i get wierd distorted sound and again after restarting asio output it works ok

2.
also i got no sound from other than front l/r outputs
tried rerouting dsp to output fxbus directly to epilog other outputs - no audio
*maybe im doing something wrong cuz on 3545 im working with profx ( which aren't working here yet as been said )

**also mastervolume can't be registerd ( altough mastervolumecompanion can be )

thanks

(downgraded to 3545b for now :\ )

Yes, both of my cards install as generic 10kx devices as well, but kxmixer shows the correct model information for both, as does the windows mixer (for wave, MIDI, etc). I assume this is just the new way kX does things.

This is expected behavior. Changes to the kX API (for x64 support, etc) make (kxl) plugins from previous x86 versions of kX incompatible with 3548.

Those are plugin skins. They are not meant to be used that way.

can you fix the mastervolume plugin russ?
also i had some problems with it that sometimes after restart it will only play on right side with some low frequencies on left ( really wierd )
to fix this i would have to swap the mastervolumecompanion and reroute it..

thanks

Could it be a problem with your card (i.e. the jack) or cable? I have a similar problem with the rear left jack of my SB0090. Sometimes it cuts out (I think there is a short circuit in the analog rear jack).

Increase the size of your buffers (Tray icon -> Settings -> Setup Buffers, the one with x.xMS mostly)
If that doesn't work, do you have more than 2gb of ram? If so, refer to http://www.hardwareheaven.com/bug-repo...-more-ram.html

thanks russ ill test it as soon as profx will be released

and regarding the master volume , no it can't be a problem with anything besides this plugin
this is my car-pc setup
and i registered 2 different mastervolumecompainion ( one with 6 channels for asio setup , and one with 2 channels for kx dsp setup )
i never got the 6 channels one to do this wierd bug
but when the 2 channels one does this , i can load the other dsp and all works fine
when i reload the buggy dsp it goes back to this till i unload/swap the companion and reroute it

i tried creating a new dsp layout from nothing and still im having this problem..

OK, I misunderstood. I did not realize that you meant that the problem was with the plugin... it would be better to talk about that in it's thread:
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/effects-...me-plugin.html

I will continue this reply there...

Re: 3548 bug reports - X86 ONLY

The tooltips in the DSP seem a little wacky. It seems like the hit area for plugin I/O pins is more strict, making it harder to get the pin descriptions. Additionally, prolog and epilog no longer give descriptive tooltips. Not a major issue, but it is less user friendly.

See the following thread (it is explained better there):

I am using german Windows XP SP3 and can confirm both bugs.
In addition the "Plugins in Uniform UFX (V39)" do not work anymore. An error pops up when you want to register the plugins (something like invalid plugin....).
Went back to the 3545 driver, so cannot tell the exact wording anymore.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate RTM(7600) X86
Soundcard: SB Live! 5.1 Digital SB0220
Driver: kX 10k1 (3548) Generic

It worked brilliantly at first (music in foobar, movie in WMP) but then when i loaded up firefox and tried to play a youtube video the sound went to all hell and even after several reboots and cache bumps i can't get it to work again. This is actually the first kX that was stable and usable in Windows 7 for me so I was excited only to be dissapointed by the loud clicks i get instead of sound now. Looks like its back to XP until this gets fixed.

Thank you so much Eugene for your hard work! Working Windows 7 kX drivers are so close i can taste it.

Re: 3548 bug reports - X86 ONLY

I just noticed that Vienna (v2.3) does not appear to work with 3548. It gives an error stating that there is no soundfont compatible device detected.

Could this be because all of the kX files are now in the kX folder rather than using the windows system folders (so the dll's, etc are no longer in the PATH and (some) are not registered with Windows)?

[EDIT]
I added the kX directory to the PATH (temporarily) as a test and that did allow Vienna to run correctly.

Got it running on Win7 with SB0060 Live. I had to crank up the buffers like Temragon said, but after that it sounds great. No issue with KX Mixer starting automaticly here. I haven't checked asio.

Well yes, I also met with the same problem while working with Cakewalk Sonar. The Soundfonts options were unavailable after 3549 was installed over 3545.

Uninstalling and reinstalling appeared to solve this problem.
