Re: 3548 bug reports - X64 ONLY

EDIT: Restarting fixed it D:
But 7 with over 2gb still doesn't work T_T

EDIT 2: It sortof works now. Mixer opens, and changing the volume on individual apps works. Master level does nothing, however. More restarts later.

Vista:
I can't seem to use the windows volume mixer any more. As in, it won't even show up, any my keyboard won't change the volume.

I can set the volume through the playback devices panel -> properties on a device, but it no longer has any effect.

Master Mixer works now though, hooray!

@hapbt and coursing

I would guess that you both have more than 2GB of RAM? (If so, it is a known issue)

We are both running win7 64bit.
The 3547 X64 performs good with my vista64(8G ram), why 3548 X64 doesn't work with win7 X64?

It is a well known issue. Eugene did not mention that it was fixed, so I assume it is still an issue. The card's hardware does not recognize addresses above 2 GB (uses only 31 PCI address bits (=2GB) for DMA, or something like that), so if Windows happens to create the buffers below that 2 GB barrier than it will work, if not, it will not work. I guess E. needs to implement some kind of double buffering or something, but really I do not know, I am not a driver developer.

Please see the following:
3545 released (BETA) - revision 3545b - post #17

Re: 3548 bug reports - X64 ONLY

yeah i have 6 gigs of ram in the system... i read that was an issue, it still surprised me though because i was using the driver in vista before with the same card...
the reload firmware button is 'missing' because the last time i saw it, i had a emu 1212m.
so it is the memory huh? no point in detailing the messing around i did to get it working then it failed.. ive got a m-audio 410 here ill use until its fixed
also i have a sblive sb0220 (dell oem) card here, have not tested that... but i see there is a sb0220 hack available in the driver options...

Same here, Windows 7 x64 4GB Ram. I would go so far as to say that it's overkill to use a 64bit system on less than 4GB RAM and in consequence, an x64 driver that cannot handle more than 2GB RAM is largely useless.

Re: 3548 bug reports - X64 ONLY

at first, thank you eugene for a massive piece of work.
But there are some issues
When I set Master Mixer as the default audio device in Vista, I've got clicks in sounds, no matter if it's music from foobar or alerts from Trillian. The only thing that sometimes helps is setting the default device to some of Wave Outs, but at the moment, for example, the 2/3 works, but yesterday I got only mono sound (only thanks to Surrounder) out of it, and swapping the front and rear outputs did make no difference (I have amp connected to rear output and front headphone jack on case connected to front output). Only one that works all the time is SPDIF/AC3, which I expected to be the digital output (and I have connected only the analog amplifier).
Another thing what's missing is the wave volume. So I can not set the volume in Power Cinema (which I use to set the volume by the remote control when watching TV).
ASIO seems not to be working, too, but that's not a big problem for me.
Also when I tried to set the sampling frequency in foobar to 48kHz, I got only some strange noises instead of music or any other sounds, and not just from foobar. Only rebooting the system helped.

I'm using Creative Audigy SB1394 (bulk with the FireWire) under Windows Vista Ultimate x64 with 2GBs of RAM (planning to upgrade to 6GBs).

Kocur, try raising the buffer size (Tray icon -> Right click -> Settings -> Setup Buffers) to around 10ms

Re: 3548 bug reports - X64 ONLY

Eugene, the problem with Wave Out HQ device failing to playback anything persists since 3541 final. That was the last version in which it worked (on windows vista). i have SB0350 (Audigy 2 ZS).
Currently using windows vista x64.
I have never seen any mention of this problem so i posted it here once again.

2gig bug and audigy, question!

ok so the >2gigs ram bug causes problems on my audigy, but i previously had an emu 1212m in the same system with the same amount of memory, under vista x64 and xp x64 dual boot, never had any issues, is the 2gig issue a problem with the audigy cards themselves? if so i will stop waiting for an update to fix it... and it would also explain why xp and vista give warnings about the card not being supported anymore... and why the audigy wdm drivers cause random bluescreens...

Re: 3548 bug reports - X64 ONLY

First:
Massive THANK YOU to Eugene for continuing KX in 64bit and trying to support Win 7!!!! Audigy is the best Soundcard, but only thanks to your drivers.

System:
Asus M3N78 - EM
AMD 4850e
2GB Corsair XMS2
Audigy1 with 1394 Output
Teufel Concet E Magnum (so Output via Front, Rear and Cent/Sub)
Windows 7 Professional MSDN RTM X64
Nvidia 15.37 Nforce
Foobar2000 0.9.6.8
KX 3548 x64 full

Bugs:
- Clicks in the output (exactly like Kocur) - no matter which source
- Metalic sounding output (like my speakers would have a membrane out of metall on top and small metallballs would lie on top of this membrane)
- No wave volume control
- can't add channels in the Wavesection of KX Router

Tried Fixes:
- Increasing Buffer size to about 10ms -> no improvement
- Using Wave Out 2/3 (e.g. in foobar)/changing channels in KX Router to 2 and 3 -> no clicks/metallic sound (but only Output on 2 Front boxes - using 5.1)

Does anyone else experience the metallic sound too?

Thanks for any help (especially a improoved driverversion )

Cheers
Florian

Re: 3548 bug reports - X64 ONLY

well the 2gb thing is not a limitation of the card, i noticed creative had posted drivers for the audigy/xfi in win7 as of jan 09, and they work fine on my 6gb x64 system.....

Re: 3548 bug reports - X64 ONLY

Master Mixer issues on Vista SP1: (Windows' Volume Mixer)
- Volume control for Master Mixer (Device) does nothing. 2/3 works fine.
- Individual volume controls for apps on Master Mixer DO work.
- Output peak meters do not work for any volume sliders except the device itself

Separately, I've been having issues with some apps not being able to output sound at all until I close a few applications, then start them again. Just started happening, I haven't figured out how to reproduce it yet.
