Winamp stops working when changing songs?

I searched the forum and found nothing like this so maybe it's my own idiocy? Dunno.

I set up Winamp to play on 6/7 waveout on my Live!. I play a song. It's happy. Then I switch to a different song, and it acts like it's playing, but no sound happens. After that, nothing I do will make Winamp, or any application, play on those outputs anymore. Eventually I go through all the outputs on both soundcards and I'm like "wuhl this sucks, I can't listen to music" so I restart my computer, and start the whole thing over again...

What's going on here? Why is Winamp breaking my soundcard outputs?

Are you, at the same time as doing this, using any asio based programs? (specially, asio recording)

I have Cubase installed and use it periodically, but no, I'm not using it for any asio recording. The last few restarts I haven't fired up Cubase at all.

k, first try to reset all settings from the driver menu et all, if that don't work, can you post the driver info? (from about)
and maybe also install the monitor, and post the messages you get, when you don't hear anymore sound (check the kx site)

"install the monitor"--what do you mean? ASIO monitoring? (Which I have no clue about at all, except I've heard it before) Is there a separate application you're talking about?

monitor is a debug monitor, found here: http://kxdev.narod.ru/tools.html
It shows debug things from the driver, wich help us to figur out what's going on...
(I take it that resetting didn't help?)

Yes, resetting didn't help. I did try several other things and found some other strange symptoms, like getting tones out of the soundcard sometimes instead of music or silence...

I'll try this out and see if I can find anything out. Thanks!
