Sad No AC3 Outpul with SPDIF (kX3550)

Hi guys, now i'm registred and able to post here

First of all: Sorry for my bad english and hank you so much for still updating the kX Project, i love the possibilities that it gives (for Example Talk and send music in Teamspeak without echoes *g*).
Creative Drivers are terrible and so i used kX drivers for many years now.

Info: I'm using a Soundblaster Audigy
I switched my OS from Win XP (32bit) to Win 7 (64bit) and have some problems with my soundcard.
With the Creative drivers (or even with Daniel K's Driver Pack) all funktions are working exept my microphone (which is important for me).

So i tried the new kX 3550 and was surprised, that it's also working well and my microphone works

Sadly i am not able to watch movies in surround sound with kX3550 on Win7. I'm using the SPDIF out (chinch) and my receiver (which worked with kX under Win XP).

The SPDIF out works, but i can not put ac3 through it.
No matter from wich program i try to send ac3 through SPDIF to my receiver (VLC Mediaplayer, Power DVD, Mplayer).

Maybe it's because of the missing options in the kX Mixer:

Do you have any suggestions how to solve that?

with kind regards,
BK

Re: No AC3 Outpul with SPDIF (kX3550)

As I said in this thread, I do not know if the reason why those options are blank in kxmixer is due to a bug, or if it is because those options are not currently supported on that OS, but, all of those settings can be changed in kX Console (assuming that they are in fact supported, and that the bug (if it is a bug) is only with the GUI).

To enable AC3 Passthru, type the following in kX Console:
shw 6 x

Where 'x' is:
0: Off
1: SPDIF 0
2: SPDIF 1
3: SPDIF 2

e.g.
To enable AC3 Passthru to SPDIF 0, type:
shw 6 1

BTW: You can read the current setting by typing the following in kX Console:
ghw 6

Give it a try and let us know if it works for you...

Thanks for the info, but sadly the only setting where i can heare anything when ac3 output over SPDIF activated is shw 6 1 and it's just swoosh noise and the receiver doesn't show a Dolby Digital signal.

Re: No AC3 Outpul with SPDIF (kX3550)

You might also try setting the SPDIF frequency to 48000.

shw 2 x

Where 'x' is:
0: 44100
1: 48000
2: 96000

BTW: What do you have set as the default audio device in the Windows Control Panel? ...I think that it needs to be Master Mixer.

Master Mixer already is my default audio device.
I will test the 4800er setting later and post the result, thanks so far for the support.

Re: No AC3 Outpul with SPDIF (kX3550)

so here are my results...

passthru is not working

i used the console to active passthru but in the gui it is still deactivated...
i tried some ac3 sources but with spdif as default output i dont get any signal at all and with master mixer as output device i only get distorted noises and clicks...
it seems that vista and win7 64bit dont support passthru in 64bit systems as i mentioned already somewhere else...

And as i also mentioned, it is working with Creative Drivers.

@Russ:
I still can't use ac3 through SPDIF. What i recognized is, that VLC Player doesn't give me the opportunity to choose SPDIF out when MasterMixer is my default audio device. The SPDIF option is only avaliable in VLC Player, when SPDIF is my default device. But even then i only hear noises.

In Mplayer i am able to activate SPDIF, no matter which device is my default in Windows, but Mplayer gives me an error when selecting SPDIF.
